Marble and Big Mac, sure, we can definitely call that a ship-tease of sorts, unlike all the others you’ve floated out. They’d absolutely have to move in together for that ship to sail, obviously, but hey, while that hasn’t happened as of yet, it’s something at least. Fair enough to call it a ship-tease.

Anyway, again, characters being presented as just friends in the comics or wherever does not and should not stop you from enjoying and shipping your ship, nor does it hurt it in any way (even if they did somehow shoot down a ship, and I doubt they ever will, the comics still aren’t even canon), but it is a FACT that they are just friends, as it would be made very clear/obvious if that’s not the case. There is no shipping with the focused characters in these comics, not as of yet anyway, maybe someday we’ll get an issue with some secondary characters being shipped or something.

Look, if you insist on interpreting shipping in certain comics or show scenes, then whatever, I can’t stop you. Just don’t be surprised if people don’t take you seriously, because there’s no evidence of shipping present. Maybe you see it that way in a very personal, very subjective sort of way, but it’s not like many non-shippers are going to agree with you there, nor do they have any real reason to.

@Esteban
Sigh.

There’s a very solid and consistent trend of these comics being about friendship, and not involving any shipping or anything with the characters it’s focused on. There’s really not any reason to think that will be changing here or anywhere else (again, maybe someday we could get a shipping issue with some secondary characters, but with a main character? nah). The characters in the comics are just friends. Should be pretty expected, when the whole series is very clearly focused on friendshipping.

But rather than continue to go back and forth over this for the next several hours, how about we just wait until the comic comes out, and then continue the almost inevitable arguing then, because even when there’s no evidence of a ship-tease in it whatsoever, there are likely to be at least a few unreasonable people who try to insist otherwise, and then it’ll all be downhill from there. More stress and drawn out arguing for all of us, yay.

@maverick159
A little late, don’t you think? You’re already trapped here with us.

@Esteban
The characters focused in these comics are quite clearly being presented as just friends, and while that shouldn’t stop you from shipping them if you like to ship, it should stop you from making any completely unfounded claims of there being evidence of shipping or something else like that present. There clearly isn’t.

For god sake, you haven’t even saw a single page of this comic. Why are claiming for sure on what’s the writer’s intention behind this story? He might as well make Dash blush and looking at Soarins abs. Yet you damage control it already before naything happened. Shipping tease doesn’t mean that someone is dating somoene. It usually visual jokes left by writer or story board artist made for shippers. You mistake focused romance with teasing.

Duck - "You would all have 10/10 episodes if i was responsible for this season as story editor and I could do it for free"

@Background Pony #6302
No, it JUST YOUR Opinion and stop claiming that it’s a fact. Unless you contact writers who made the comics or scenes and ask Nick Confalone if he intended to imply romantic scene between Marble and Big mac in Hearhtbrakers or ask Jeremy Whitley if he made intentional shipping tease in his Time Travel comic with Discord and Baast.

Even Big Jim said when someone asked him about MarbleMac being a possibly incestious, he said “They’re very distant, and who said it must be romantic, You decide!” Which clearly suggest that this is open for interpetations. Claiming that theres is no intentional shipping in this series is as stupid as claiming that Characters X and Y must be 100% romantic. Characters don’t have to go through Cadance and Shining arc to see them as more than friends.
Background Pony #5001
@Esteban
It’s not just an opinion that there is no ‘intentional shipping’ in the content of these comics, it’s a clear fact (once again, it’s just friendship, there is no shipping involved, and that’s the intent, regardless of what shippers try/decide to see it as), and your own very personal, very subjective perspective on the matter of shipping doesn’t change that.

You can imagine it however you want, frankly, but claiming that there’s outright shipping in it, and intentional no less, is just ridiculous. The characters focused in these comics are quite clearly being presented as just friends, and while that shouldn’t stop you from shipping them if you like to ship, it should stop you from making any completely unfounded claims of there being evidence of shipping or something else like that present. There clearly isn’t.

But yes, I’ll give more consideration to simply ignoring it regardless in the future, though that’s not to say that I’ll never reply to such posts. I just need to take a break and rest, because I’ve been very stressed lately.
Background Pony #5001
@Esteban
Meh, they can try to claim it all they want, and you’re right that I can’t physically stop them from doing so, but that doesn’t make it remotely true, and they shouldn’t be surprised when they receive a reality check, because if you’re trying to claim a ship as canon, you’re trying to claim it’s a fact, and that’s not gonna fly. Shipping something and claiming it’s somehow canon are NOT the same thing, as you need some damn solid proof for the latter. And that Iron Will comic had no shipping or anything like that in it, maybe you interpreted something in it as a tease due to your shipping-goggles filtered perspective, but it didn’t in anything more than your very personal, very subjective interpretation at most. Neither will this one, there’s no shipping, and there are no ship-teases. It’s all been just friendship, thus far that’s been the case for every single issue in regards to the characters they are focusing on. We can wait for the comic, sure, but that won’t be changing here.

And mind you, at no point have I suggested that people stop shipping it, or that there’s something wrong with someones ship, just that they stop trying to insist that shipping is present in content where it clearly isn’t. By all means, if you like a ship, ship it all you want, I fully support your right to do that, but it’s not canon (comics aren’t canon anyway, mind you, but still), and I’m absolutely going to argue against any absurd claims people make about there being shipping in content when it’s simply just not there. Though, to be fair, I usually just ignore people who do that sort of thing. If I got into an argument over this kind of stuff every time I saw it, I’d be completely exhausted, considering how long they can drag on, as seen here.

@Background Pony #6302
Anyone who ship it will still ship it and claim its canon so you literally waisting your time here. You should at least wait until comics is out because it may just have as many shipping teases toward SoarinDash as Iron will comic had ship teases with Fluttershy.

And boy did this post come out even bigger than I expected it to. Again, I stress, if it’s really necessary to continue this, perhaps it should just be done so in PM, because I don’t exactly want to drop more of these monstrous posts in the comments section here. Not that I enjoy making them, but sometimes when getting my points across it comes out more extensive than originally envisioned.

@Sova
And while I’m here, I did find out the answer to this, and apparently it’s January 2017, which is a bit farther out than I thought, but if you still wanted to know, there you go. For future reference, the Friends Forever issue release dates can be viewed here http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/My_Little_Pony:_Friends_Forever

@cheezedoodle
Sigh. So you’ve latched on to the idea that I’ve somehow generalized shippers, which is frankly, and I mean no offense even if I feel you’re being terribly unfair, a blatant strawman, or at the least an unfortunate misinterpretation.

I admitted that my post was too inflammatory, and that my language was thus unjustified, but that does not for a second mean that I was referring to anything other than a small minority that I was assuming would appear and do what I said. Your posts remain an unabashed strawman, because while my post was certainly much ruder than warranted, I did not somehow insult shippers in general like that, and I don’t see how you could possibly get that out of my post, inflammatory language or not. Perhaps I should have gone further out of my way to make it more clear that I wasn’t in fact insulting shippers for being shippers or anything else so unfair, but personally I feel that should have been crystal clear in the first place. It probably would have been better if I had waited before posting in the first place, to better see how the comments would play out, but still.

And no, this cover is not in any way whatsoever teasing shipping of any form, certainly not outside of certain peoples imagination. Unless your shipping goggles are welded on far too tight, then I don’t have the slightest clue how someone could possibly convince themselves of the ridiculous idea that two characters standing or sitting next to each other is somehow a ship-tease (which implies intent, no less). Interpret it any way you want for your personal matters, let your imagination run wild, but it’s not. By that sort of crazy logic you’re pushing there, you could argue literally any positive interaction between characters in the show as a ‘ship-tease’ or something, but that doesn’t make it even remotely so. What the heck are you even defining a ‘ship-tease’ as to believe something like that? And do you feel the same about any other instances of any characters sitting next to each other, for example?

But yeah, I don’t know what your idea/definition of a ‘ship-tease’ is, but this is most definitely not one, and unless your shipping goggles are again, on much too tight, then I don’t see how you could possibly claim it that way. Shippers will like this issue, I’m sure, despite it being 100% exclusively friendship, because shippers would probably like any non-negative interaction between the characters they ship, but that doesn’t make it a ship-tease of any form.

Anyway, this is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about earlier, where every time a male and female character interact just a little as what’s quite clearly meant to be just friends, there seems to be a few people who come crawling out of the woodwork to insist that it’s shipping, when in reality there’s no evidence whatsoever that it’s anything more than friendship. I don’t care what you think that it is in your personal interpretation, but it’s quite clearly not meant to be shipping; it’s very clearly just friendship, and there’s no shipping in this comic, cover or otherwise.

My conversation with LightningBolt earlier in this thread discussed this a bit, but I doubt you’d be saying the same if it was, say, Fluttershy and Applejack sitting next to each other on the cover. If it magically becomes a ship-tease in your head depending on how you swap around the gender of the characters in any combination, then I’d have to call anyone who thinks like that a clear hypocrite. The vast majority of shippers are just fine, but the vocal minority that goes absolutely bonkers and insists that friendship is somehow proof or a ‘tease’ of their ship certainly is incredibly annoying at least. I could certainly ignore them, given their very small numbers I’m sure, and frankly I usually do these days, but come ON people.

So the question remains; what exactly are you defining as a ‘ship-tease’, and how on earth does two characters sitting next to each other qualify as that? Because if someone is silly enough to try and interpret this cover as somehow being a ship tease, they might say the same about any two characters sitting next to each other for any reason whatsoever, no? That’s a nonsense standard. If you want to make a case for a ship-tease, then Marble and Big Mac in Hearthbreakers are an example of what that might look like, but two characters sitting next to each other, or standing next to each other, or making eye contact, or whatever else, does NOT equate to shipping.

I don’t think someone would dare call stuff like >>1093095 or any other similar example a ‘ship-tease’ in a serious manner (which again, would also imply intent), and if they’re not a total hypocrite, the same goes for stuff like this comic cover. If you think the comic is something you’ll enjoy as a shipper, then fair enough, that’s understandable that you’d enjoy reading any form of non-negative interaction between characters that you ship, but that does not mean that shipping or ship teasing of any form exists in the content of the comic, cover or otherwise, end of story.

Meh. If you insist on continuing this covnersation, then perhaps it’d be wise to take further posts to PMs, because this comments section is starting to reach it’s limit, I’d say. This post is already even longer than my last one, and while I suppose I could shorten it, I’d rather get my point across rather firmly now rather than later.

@Background Pony #B81B
Yeah, well, whatever. The burden of proof for that sort of thing is certainly typically on the claimant, if you want to claim it in the sense of trying to convince other people somehow, but yes, clearly we’ve already had a long enough talk about all of this stuff, so I’ll be going on my merry way and leaving you to your devices as you suggest. Have a nice day. Or night. Sun is already down for me.

@Background Pony #9F21
Considering the supposed justification for removing it, I doubt it. The claim was that it was only attracting people who would contribute to the drama, and using another tag would have the same effect if that’s really true. Not sure how I feel about the decision, as while I can see the logic there, I know some people prefer to just filter all that stuff out, and I don’t blame them.

I don’t remember my exact wording

Perhaps this will jog your memory: something about “literal retards” and “morons”

Anyway, there’s not gonna be shipping in this comic.

No shit, but this cover is certainly teasing a popular ship.

nor has anyone [argued] that people are somehow in the wrong for liking shipping.

Calling shippers literal retards and morons isn’t saying that they’re wrong? okay.

I’m not exactly much a shipper, and I don’t like the ship, but I’m pretty sure that I haven’t insulted anything about anyones ship in this thread

See above.

maybe some minority of people will get it in their head that their ship is somehow more canon when it’s not, and I’ll end up sucked into more arguments.

Just the fact that you feel the need to “correct” people of their personal notions, something that brings them happiness, is sad.

Whatever, we’ll see when we get there. This conversation is dragging on more than I’d like. Hopefully this is the last super large post I have to make.

Thank Christ.

Quoting the Detailed Description of the drama tag:
This tag must never be used on images that are direct screencaps or scans of the show, books, comics, or movies.
Since the drama in the comments tag has been banished to the moon, I guess that description of the drama tag no longer holds?

You are far too invested in making sure that everyone knows that there is no shipping anywhere at any time. Just ignore the comments if that is bothering you that much. What does it change to you if i claim that they are datitng offcreen. Unless you have proof to disprove that, i don’t have to prove it too. Just go your marry way.
Background Pony #5001
@Background Pony #B81B
Nobody is claiming you can’t ship them, and people can interpret characters relationships differently, but to suggest that it could somehow be happening offscreen while the show is still running without us knowing is just silly, as it’s just the sort of thing that couldn’t possibly go unnoticed in the background, it’s far too significant. If it was with background ponies that we get limited exposure to and thus can speculate much more on significant details, maybe that wouldn’t be such a problem, but we’re talking about a main character of MLP in a show that’s very explicitly focused on a small cast of main characters.

If your personal headcanon is that a main character is presently in a relationship, then unless your headcanon is meant for some sort of alternate continuity from what we see in the show presently, then how exactly does that even work? Serious question, because I have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

@cheezedoodle
Oh? I was sleepy at the time I made that post, so I don’t remember my exact wording, but I’m quite certain that I did not say unkind words to all shippers, and I certainly would not do so intentionally, as my position has always been that troublemakers are a small but vocal minority at most (who knows what the actual numbers are, especially when it’s so subjective, but you get the idea). My original post was more inflammatory than warranted, yes, but I was lamenting that there are in fact some small minority of people who will see it that way, and are less than reasonable about it (see; some of the people arguing certain things about Discord and Fluttershy lately). Perhaps I could have originally conveyed that in a less aggressive way, but I can assure you that I never intended to generalize anyone.

Anyway, there’s not gonna be shipping in this comic. Shippers will like to see any interaction between two characters they ship, certainly, and that’s understandable, but the comic is going to be very explicitly about friendship, not shipping. Literally all of the Friends Forever comics have been about friendshipping and stuff of that nature, and while shippers can certainly enjoy that too, it’s not in any way shipping just because a male and female character interact, nor is it a ship-tease of any kind. Maybe you feel the people I’m referring to are just joking or aren’t being serious, or something along those lines, and that’s likely true for many of them (still very annoying if someone decides to be unreasonable over it though, serious or not), but certainly not all, so put it that way and leave it at that.

And no, I’m sorry, but I feel your first post has not summarized anything very well, as it was effectively a strawman. Has a single person called anyone else’s ship “awful”, as you claimed? No, they haven’t, nor has anyone done so with the intention of arguing that some other ship is objectively better or that people are somehow in the wrong for liking shipping. I’m not exactly much a shipper, and I don’t like the ship, but I’m pretty sure that I haven’t insulted anything about anyones ship in this thread, nor has anyone else unless I’m just missing something. With all due respect, I must stand by my original reply to you that you have very much so misrepresented the conversation in this thread.

But anyway, guess we’ll just wait until the comic comes out, and see what people do. Who knows, maybe people won’t be unreasonable about it, in which case I’ll admit that I spoke too soon, or maybe some minority of people will get it in their head that their ship is somehow more canon when it’s not, and I’ll end up sucked into more arguments. Whatever, we’ll see when we get there. This conversation is dragging on more than I’d like. Hopefully this is the last super large post I have to make.
