The most frustrating part of all this is how quickly Representative McBride capitulated, calling it a distraction and agreeing to abide by the rules imposed on her. This has emboldened Mace, who has now introduced a bill to force trans people to use the restroom of their assigned sex at birth on all federal property, including Dulles Airport, national parks, and other government buildings.
Fox News aired a whole segment dedicated to gleefully misgendering and deadnaming McBride, and Libs of Tik Tok posted wishing her by her deadname a happy International Menโs Day. Fuckers smell blood in the water, and the escalation of their rhetoric (particularly from Mace herself) is pretty unprecedented.

In other news, Sarah McBride will become the first openly transgender person in Congress thanks to this election. And Republicans are celebrating by passing a bill to - pause for the cause - bar them from using the bathroom of their chosen gender in Congress. You know the kind of bills they pushed on schools to โprotect the childrenโโฆbut now for Congress?
Meanwhile basically none in Trumpโs administration is allowed within 100 feet of a school. So you know, priorities.

Itโs kinda why I donโt expect it will happen or if it does it wonโt go very far. They will attack trans people to create scapegoats. But porn is consumed by too many of their supporters and so going after it will be a lot of hassle for no gain.

The US constitution โ like all national constitutions, to my knowledge โ is considered a foundational document. It may be amended by Congress (subject to judicial review) or through a new constitutional convention, but it cannot be terminated in part or whole except by ending the US system of government and replacing it with something else.Itโs worth noting that Trump did not precisely call for the termination of the US constitution itself, but merely those rules and regulations that forced him out of office and prevent his (immediate) reinstatement. And Iโm not entirely convinced that he has any interest in or understanding of the constitutional issues in play here. Like most things Trump, this comment suggests narcissism more than nefarious intent. For Trump, the Constitution is much like the Bible: something to be held up for photo-ops and used to browbeat opponents, but otherwise of no significance whatsoever.
