Nobody is claiming you can't ship them, and people can interpret characters relationships differently, but to suggest that it could somehow be happening offscreen while the show is still running without us knowing is just downright silly, as it's just the sort of thing that couldn't possibly go unnoticed in the background, it's far too significant. If it was with background ponies that we get limited exposure to and thus can speculate much more on significant details, maybe that wouldn't be such a problem, but we're talking about a main character of MLP in a show that's very explicitly focused on a small cast of main characters.

If your personal headcanon is that a main character is presently in a relationship, then unless your headcanon is meant for some sort of alternate continuity from what we see in the show presently, then how exactly does that even work? Serious question, because I have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Oh? I was sleepy at the time I made that post, so I don't remember my exact wording, but I'm quite certain that I did not say unkind words to all shippers, and I certainly would not do so intentionally, as my position has always been that troublemakers are a small but vocal minority at most (who knows what the actual numbers are, especially when it's so subjective, but you get the idea). My original post was more inflammatory than warranted, yes, but I was lamenting that there are in fact some small minority of people who will see it that way, and are less than reasonable about it (see; some of the people arguing certain things about Discord and Fluttershy lately). Perhaps I could have originally conveyed that in a less aggressive way, but I can assure you that I never intended to generalize anyone.

Anyway, there's not gonna be shipping in this comic. Shippers will like to see any interaction between two characters they ship, certainly, and that's understandable, but the comic is going to be very explicitly about friendship, not shipping. Literally all of the Friends Forever comics have been about friendshipping and stuff of that nature, and while shippers can certainly enjoy that too, it's not in any way shipping just because a male and female character interact, nor is it a ship-tease of any kind. Maybe you feel the people I'm referring to are just joking or aren't being serious, or something along those lines, and that's likely true for many of them (still very annoying if someone decides to be unreasonable over it though, serious or not), but certainly not all, so put it that way and leave it at that.

And no, I'm sorry, but I feel your first post has not summarized anything very well, as it was effectively a strawman. Has a single person called anyone else's ship "awful", as you claimed? No, they haven't, nor has anyone done so with the intention of arguing that some other ship is objectively better or that people are somehow in the wrong for liking shipping. I'm not exactly much a shipper, and I don't like the ship, but I'm pretty sure that I haven't insulted anything about anyones ship in this thread, nor has anyone else unless I'm just missing something. With all due respect, I must stand by my original reply to you that you have very much so misrepresented the conversation in this thread.

But anyway, guess we'll just wait until the comic comes out, and see what people do. Who knows, maybe people won't be unreasonable about it, in which case I'll admit that I spoke too soon, or maybe some minority of people will get it in their head that their ship is somehow more canon when it's not, and I'll end up sucked into more arguments. Whatever, we'll see when we get there. This conversation is dragging on more than I'd like. Hopefully this is the last super large post I have to make.
