there is something people dont know or dont want to admit…. shipping is part of self-insertion. you want your favortite character end up with your waifu/husbando or you want the character has something in common with you (like being gay or not being white) and you want other characters end up with other characters to dont ruin your beautiful perfect circle. and if you dont believe me just check out the naruto fandom like 5 years ago, the meltdown was great

I don’t understand why, everything can’t be canon, and they can still enjoy their own fanon, as it’s all just fictional canon anyway.

I mean, it’s still a Hasbro cartoon so it’s inherently severely limited in what it can actually show onscreen because they also want to air it in countries ruled by shitbags, but this is pretty clearly not just coming out of nowhere.
 
Shipping has always been a dumb thing to argue about anyway, just headcanon whatever the hell you want about characters and move on already. Headcanon can always find a way around canon if you really want it to, because the characters onscreen could always be lying about it; the world is full of queer people in hetero– or “hetero”– relationships for a multitude of reasons, and “more than meets the eye” has literally been a trademark of Hasbro cartoons since 1984.

It’s almost like she’s self-aware enough to realize that a lot of the audience is going to take their own interpretations of characters in media they like and run with those interpretations for funsies regardless of what’s canon, especially regardless of what’s discussed by the show staff but never became part of a story. You know, because she enjoys doing that kind of thing, and realizes it would be hypocritical to deny other people the same fun. This has consistently been her position whenever discussing the topic of ship canon in MLP.

You’re building up all these negative attitudes about someone, interpreting their actions in just about the worst possible way, without bothering to see if your hot-take impression is even reasonable outside of your own head. Backing down would have been deleting the tweet. This is certainly a step back. If she’s saying ‘suck it haters, she likes girls too’ but then turn around and say ‘its up to the fans to interpret’, it really does seem like a step back.
