Well, you got a point there, I guess is hard to know when somebody ruined your life if the universe retcons that after a change in the time and no one tells other people about it.
 
I still find her freudian excuse weak but again, I wonder if other ponies were really dumb for not noticing how insane Starlight was becoming, or if she shunned everypony else because of that and again everypony else didn’t notice Starlight’s issues. Man, Equestria needs pychologists or we are going to have villains all over the place, Twilight was right in the first episode:

I also noticed that while I can see redeemed Starlight with minimal indiference, I noted my actual complains come from she being a villain. :/
 
Man, what the hell is going on? I’m critizicing the thing other people like (Starlight as a villain) but I can’t complain that much about her polarizing redeemed self.

To be fair, only the Mane 6, and Spike were aware Glimmer nearly destroyed the world/timeline, and such. (Granted, she just wanted revenge on Twilight, she didn’t want to destroy everything.) How can others hate Glimmer if they didn’t know what she did? Spike did rub in quite a few times though.
 
She did worry that her old equal sign town would hate her, and not accept her anymore for what she did to them, but ironically they didn’t, and accepted her back, still treated her like mayor for advice, which ended up upsetting her worse, as she felt she didn’t deserve to be so easily forgiven, and still felt bad about what she did.  
So actually when you think about it, her problem was kinda the opposite of Sunset’s. (Also, just having an-ex bad character treated badly for sympathy doesn’t really equal “redemption,” more like “making the viewer feel sorry for them, so they can easily forgive the character.” Sunset and Glimmer befriending the Mane 6, putting aside their evil ways, and saving the day is what redeemed them, not acting “cute & emo” for a whole movie.)
 
Not to mention, actually the Mane 6 did easily forgive Sunset for trying to break up their friendships, kill them, enslave them, ect. It was everyone else at school who were still mad at her for her past bad behavior.  
If everyone else knew what Glimmer did, they’d probably treat her like crap, and granted some like Mrs. Cake did treat her like crap regardless. If Glimmer was treated worse then Sunset was, or acted cute & emo for a whole movie, would people love her as much as Sunset?
 
Honestly, I think both Sunset & Glimmer kinda suffer from being too easily redeemed, and similar issues, but I don’t really dislike either. They both have their nice moments, but usually tend to have more generic personalities compared to the Mane 6.

Yeah, true. However, the fact that she still started a cult because as far as the canon has shown she lost ONE childhood frend still rubs me on the other side to be fair. Plus, even after watching the barred wasteland Twilight still needed to talk her down because she was still refusing to hear reason. Sometimes I wonder if Starlight was always a bit mess up in her head. Trust me, I want to think that so I can feel some sympathy for her, at least saying that she was always kinda messed up and never received any psychological help might explain her behavior. Not helped by the fact that unlike Discord and Sunset (althought Discord was being a dick in that regard), she was easily forgiven by everypony despite all the damage she could cause.
 
Speaking of redemption by blasted with rainbows, Discord wasn’t reformed by the elements or harmony, he was stoned/unstoned and that was it, he received two therapies for that, the first one I admit yeah, it could have been handled better in Keep Calm And Flutter On, and then in Twilight’s Kingdom. He’s still certainly an ass at times but technically speaking he was redeemed by mundane ways. Nightmare Moon according to most people from the cast said that she was product of some external corruption and self-steem issues, and whereas the self-steem could be solved by mundane ways, the elements of harmony were required to clean the dark magic. Sunset is an odd case, and yeah, I wish I could know why was such a jerk in the first movie, as in hindsight is a very abrupt change between movies, which is sad because somehow I love her character (sometimes both Starlight and Sunset are compared, thought I think the reason why I like Sunset than Starlight steems because even if Sunset was arguably meaner, she was individualist and believed in standing out from the group, whereas Starlight hypocrite or not as well intentioned she was, Starlight was more of “everyone should be equal”, I must admit I relatate more with “stand from the group” mentalities). Trixie was a braggart, but the only time she was genuinely evil was under the influence of the alicorn amulete, explicit stated to be an insanity trip for the user, the jerkiness however was again changed by mundane ways. Wallflower’s stone received the magic blast instead of herself and got redeemed again by mundane ways. Midnight Sparkle was dark magic over a pushover bullied student, so harmony magic pretty much destroyed the dark magic and rescued somebody who was bullied into use dark magic anyway so redemption is kinda unnevitable and obvious. Tempest again was redeemed after somepony lend her a hoof after being betrayed. And finally, Chrysalis, Sombra, the pony of shadows Tirek and the Dazzlings did received magic blasts but rather than redeemed they were just plain defeated and never redeem themselves.
 
Long story short, MLP doesn’t really have a great story brainwashing villains into redemption as people think, so Starlight is not unique in that aspect.
 
Funnily enought, I don’t mind her screwups post redemption as much as the fact that she seems at times to be shilled too much in some episodes. I agree that still, is not worse than the season 5 last two parter, I was really pissed back then.
 
Overall, I can’t say I hate her, but I can’t say I like her very much anyway.

You should remember that what happened in those other timelines was an indirect result of Starlight’s actions. Any lives lost were because of the villains who had taken over. Besides, those timelines no longer exist anyway. Not to mention that the moment she saw the horiffic future she had set up for Equestria she immediately realized how badly she was screwing over the world. This alone is a prime example of her morality since she didn’t directly witness what was happening to the future until later.
 
Starlight’s actions weren’t witnessed by anyone other than the mane six (and the villagers, who were actually more willing to forgive her) while Twilight and Spike were the only ones truly present during the time travel fiasco, so it made sense that Starlight gained her reformed status a different way, especially with the Princess herself vouching for her. And as for earning her reformation, helping Thorax change the changelings speaks for itself.
 
Sure she’s screwed up on a few occasions, but at the same time she’s gone out of her way to learn from those mistakes. This actually makes her one of the more unique reformed villains since she’s pretty much one of the only ones that didn’t have to get blasted with rainbows to see the error of her ways.

Starlight, you are a divisive character alright, that means there’s people that want to befriend you, so don’t feel sad, just look for that people. Maybe they can give you some confort.
