Hardly. Those two deserve a rant, probably more than a rant. But don’t let them or those like them ruin things for you. We’re okay here. Anderson will be dealt with in whichever way IDW decides, and for better or worse, that’ll be the end of it. We just have to take things as they come, and enjoy what good we can find.

…You’re absolutely right. I’m getting too worked up over this, and doing that will accomplish nothing. I think I’ll step back from this for a tick. Still, this is only my third meltdown on this site over something like this, the others being a rant on PP and a rant on Purple Tinker, respectively, so I hope you all don’t begrudge this old man a little overreaction every once and a while :)

To each their own, I suppose. I actually know very little about the comic staff or even the actual show staff, like not nearly enough to know which writer / artist is notorious for this or that. Truth be told, I’m actually a lot more devoted to the fan-side of things than the official merch, other than watching the show of course. Seeing stuff like this in the official comic is enough to make me boycot it, end of story for me. You’d better believe too, if this had been the show, I’d have been done with that as well.

Again, that’s your own decision. I don’t know if this is the first time Anderson’s pulled this crap or if he’s done it in his other issues. Like I said, I stay away from social media since I actually like not hating myself and the world constantly (I get enough of both just from regular internet & RL).
 
This isn’t like Frank Miller where his repugnance is obvious on the page, even if you don’t know his notoriety online, since I don’t recall him doing this before.
 
From what I know, he has his little SJW reposts, even before this week, but bringing it into the book itself, even for the sake of “fan cameos”, that’s going beyond “He is either clueless or just has really crappy opinions” to “Shout out to my friends. Bronies r scum! Buy my book, bronies!” And as you said, this is in an all-ages book too.
 
If Anderson’s done crap like this, and IDW managment knew about it before the Annual came out, I’d be more willing to be angry at them. But as is, at least with the information I have right now, I’ll just focus my disgust with Anderson.
 
And, as I said, despite me feeling bad for the artist/inker/colorist/etc., I won’t buy Ted’s issues, but will continue everyone elses.
 
I have no time nor desite to spend money on yet another “professional” Tom Preston/Andrew Dobson, believe you me. Reading his posts makes me have zero sympathy for him.

I really don’t blame IDW, but it really is their responsibility to keep their employees from doing things like that. I’m understanding in that they let it happen to begin with as they undoubtedly had no clue what it was (the person who colored it used the wrong color scheme for one thing, no doubt she didn’t even know it was an OC shout out).
 
However, if they allow that kind of behavior to continue from their employees after being made aware of it, well, they’re then at fault as well. I’m sure as hell not going to trust any content from them if they knowingly allow their employees to do that kind of stuff. How can I? How do I know the next issue written by him won’t contain actual material that supports that kind of thing? This guy thinks a fucking children’s comic is a good venue to show his support of a poisonous SOB like Dragonosphere, well, I’m 100% done with him and anything he’s associated with.
 
That comic isn’t his little playground to give shout-outs as he pleases. If he wants that, he can start a damned blog like Catfood or J.J. where he can have the free reign to do what he wants. That is a damned comic book being marketed as a wholesome read for children and adults alike. If he wants to support those rotten a-holes, he can do so on his twitter or his scumblr. HE CAN KEEP IT THE FUCK OUT OF THAT DAMNED CHILDREN’S COMIC AND I SURE AS HELL WON’T TOUCH ANYTHING RELATING TO IDW IF THEY DON’T FUCKING FIRE HIM.

Well, I can’t say that you shouldn’t feel the way you do in regards of this.
 
Personally? I can’t and won’t blame IDW as a whole for this mess. I can’t and won’t blame the artist, the inker, the colorist, etc. I’ll blame Ted Anderson. Just like, despite the fact I despise Chad “CR Familiar Faces” Rocco, Hope “JesuOtaku” Chapman, or Lewis “Linkara” Lovhaug, I won’t boycott all of Channel Awesome/That Guy With The Glasses.
 
This whole reason is why it’s easier for me to not support an author like Orson Scott Card, as opposed to a collaborative effort like a comic.
 
This is just me, but I don’t feel comfortable in making others suffer for the f*ckups of one. It’s the reason I rolled my eyes at Linkara’s call to boycot Tony Harris’ stuff after his sexist remarks a few years ago; why make the writers/the company suffer for what some asshole artist said?
 
I’m less inclined to pick up another Ted Anderson book again, even if I’d feel guilty about screwing over the other collaborators, but it’d be a better message to IDW if future issues where Anderson writes don’t sell, whereas issues by other writers do. Forum posts & e-mails would also help out too.
 
But different strokes n all, I suppose.

Anyways, I’m getting a li’l tired of debating about Ted, and tired of the drama, so I think I’m going to take my leave.
 
Also, before anyone gets the wrong idea about me, I’ve criticized the behavior of Tumblr SJWs, and brony-haters before (especially P.P.) so don’t assume I’m on their side, or justifying promoting their OCs, or anything.

I think it’s in regards to the male half.  
When you see a lot of mouthpieces that read “Die all bronies.” “Bronies are rapists” “Hate bronies” “Ponies against bronies” and seeing droves of people praising the artist for just hate speech. I think the “bad eggs” are all the people like Dragondicks and others, because all they do is defecate onto the community at large for no other reason then guys that just like ponies, and we’ve never excluded anyone, they’ve tried to drag us out by stereotyping the word “brony” to mean something negative.

Honestly, and this is just me personally saying it, I think he should be fired.
 
This goes well above and beyond my emotional investment in this show and it’s fans. I’m a father, you know, and the idea of a dude supporting people like that through an official children’s comic that my ten year old fucking daughter could read is downright sickening. I’ve had a hard enough keeping my kid from all the obviously bad crap out there without having to worry about the kind of shit a writer with a poisonous outlook might be slipping into what is supposed to be a silly little children’s comic. If this ain’t nipped in the bud, how do we know he won’t start sneaking more stuff in later?
 
Writers, artists, and whatever are people, and as people are fully entitled to their opinions and outlooks on life, no matter how stupid or vitriolic or racist or whatever. But when they are making something for kids, they damned well better stifle themselves and keep their poisonous outlooks on life out of what is supposed to be a comic chronicling the adventures of some ponies in a damned magical land.
 
Make fun of me for having rustled jimmies or hit me with one of those “u mad” reaction pics if you want. Be my guest, I really don’t care. Because you’d be absolutely right. I’m pissed right the fuck off about this. You better believe I won’t be buying anything from IDW for my kid ever again.

Perhaps, as long as people do it in a mature/calm manner rather then do something like beg IDW/Hasbro to fire him. That might not go over so well.
 
But yeah, I will admit the cameos were a bad idea, as I never liked the SJW/anti-brony movement on Tumblr lately, but it’s hard to say what his motivations for the cameos were… Not defending Ted, or his double-standard opinions on “sexism,” I just have a more neutral standpoint, I guess, because I haven’t seen enough proof yet that he hates us. This is why I haven’t been taking either side in this discussion really, I want to make sure I have all the facts before I criticize Ted.

Well, I haven’t seen that stuff myself, so I wouldn’t know, I have yet to actually see him admit he hates bronies, but who knows? His position that “sexism on males doesn’t exist” does raise eyebrows from me…
 
Also, to be fair I don’t think Heather was refering to all MLP fans, just the bad ones. We can’t deny there are some bad eggs amongst us.
