You know why most people find it easy to overlook Tara and LF as oppsoed to these internet SJWs? Despite the fact that they’ve expressed their questionable political views. They are professional enough to keep their most of their beliefs separate from their professions. And they don’t go around trying to sabotage charities and other people’s work just because they don’t like something.

We will tell our side to behave, like how Gamergate looked down on those who try to take questionable approaches against the anti-GG.
 
But if the other side crosses the line, we need to find a way to make them think twice before pulling such acts. Unless, they decide to police themselves just as we do.
 
Basically, don’t act until one side has acted. Assess the situation first before you take certain actions.

Their personal views and beliefs should NOT be our business. Therefore, we should keep our nose out of it as much as possible, as long as THEY keep their beliefs to themselves without trying to shove it down our throats. There is the fine line they still thankfully haven’t crossed in their official works, and we’ll make sure they don’t cross it.

They are entitled to have their own religious or political beliefs. Just as long as they keep them separate from their work, and not try to indoctrinate their audiences into their views. If they do do that, they’ve crossed the line.

Let’s not take this too far. It was never supposed to be about monitoring the beliefs and thoughts of the staff, it was about one of those people using the comic to show support for something that directly conflicted with its purpose.

Giving a shout-out to that kind of thing, no matter how minor, is still showing support of it through an official children’s work. That’s the issue. It doesn’t matter if it was just a tiny little picture or not.
 
This really has nothing to do with Dragondicks to me; there’s no shortage of dickheads out there who validate themselves by trashing on this show or it’s fanbase and he/she/bun is just another unremarkable fish in that pond of misfits and reprobates. Openly supporting that kind of thing and using their official IP to do it is not okay. Period. He had no right to put that in a comic marketed to children, he had no right to do that to that franchise, and quite frankly he had no right to do this to all the folks at IDW who are now involved thanks to him.
 
I don’t know if you’re a parent or not, but try to see this through the eyes of a parent rather than a fan of the show and you’ll understand where I’m coming from. I’ll be damned if I’m going to had money to a company that presents this material in any way shape or form, no matter how minor, to children. It’s not about wanting to see the guy fired. It’s about not wanting to support a comic that happens to have someone like that on the payroll.

@The Smiling Pony Lawl, well, it wasn’t exactly official. I got invited to speak with the NPD the week before Milo dropped the emails and I missed most of what happened at that time (like the whole Jenn Frank thing). I had a Romanian IP for awhile because of it.

@Vree This would most certainly be a pleasing scenario. I find it distasteful a single entity would be able to so monopolise such a large franchise. Perhaps this will push Hasbro to consider lending the license to Image or perhaps Harvey or Zeta.

the biggest issue is that this content producer is attacking their consumer base. and thats not fucking cool. I dont have anything against IDW but if they arent going to step up and do something about their employee, i dont see myself supporting them anytime soon.

I understand that, but some fans out there are getting out of hand.  
Even though I agree that Ted shouldn’t do that, or get involved with so-called MLP-fans who promote hatred, and such.
 
I don’t want any negative content like that in the comics, (even if it was subtle) but at the same time I don’t want to protest/destroy the comic series, as I feel only Ted is to blame for it. Yet, I don’t really wish to support his ideals.  
So I have alot of mixed feelings on this. I still wish to support/read the comics, but I am considering avoiding Ted’s issues in light of recent developments…
 
(SIGH!) Honestly, I don’t think there is any solution to his situation that will have a “happy ending.” Even if Ted is fired, chances are when the anti-brony MLP-fans/SJWs find out about it, they’ll blame bronies for it, and further use it to justify their anti-brony, fake-feminist crusades, and get more people on their side making this “Bronies VS SJWs” war even worse then it already is. :(

I have not seen anyone act like they need content creators to agree with 100% of their personal opinions. Not wanting to give money to a person who holds an opinion you find reprehensible is not new or unique to bronies in any way.

I don’t think there is much publicity actually. Oh, you mean publicity on the internet? Please. It takes minimal effort to spread info among an internet subculture, and internet fame is quite separate from being famous IRL.
 
If you mean real publicity, no, there’s been nothing, despite some “concerned parents” on the IDW board trying really hard to convince everyone that they are real, and message attempts to Hasbro etc. And it is best if it stays like this, because do you actually want parents to stop buying IDW en masse because they were told that MLP promotes sexism for their kids?
 
Even the faux “concerned fans” on the IDW boards did not dare suggest anything worse than “I’ll buy my daughter MLP DVDs instead”. You see, if this actually got big (laughable, as nothing that could be made into a real case happened) it would reflect badly not just on IDW, but on the show, and consequently, on us, the fans as well.
 
But there is little to no such chance, because nothing actually happened that could stand as a real professional complaint (Ted did not put anything objectionable to outsiders in a comic) or public concern. This whole fiasco has been the most ridiculous attempt to present something that concerns bronies uniquely as something that the whole fanbase (ie., past the online fanbase) should be offended about.

Some fans online are kinda acting like it though. Some have been demonizing IDW, and the comic series in general over this Ted guy.
 
Smiling Pony even remarked he’s reluctant to allow previews of the comics on the site. While I understand his anger, I don’t want things on this site to get that extreme.

Even so, fans are also upset that the writer of the issue voiced support for said artist, and apparently said he agrees with some of their odd ideals… He event took a picture of himself wearing a T-shirt made by said artist with a negative message on it.
 
I know I tried to be “neutral” earlier on the subject, but it’s understandable why fans would be upset by that, nor want somebody like that working on comics for their children. Even I’m now questioning Ted’s ideals, and if he continues to write for the series I certainly hope he doesn’t have said ideals bleed into the comic series I like so much..

As long as they don’t put either extremist liberal/conservative political messages in the show/comic, I don’t care honestly what their political opinions are. (As long as they aren’t to extremist, like wearing a white-hood, or something.)  
I’d cringe if they had an episode promoting say biased polticial-ideals, insulting a religion, or something. (One of the reasons I got bored of “Family Guy.”)  
I can take a joke sometimes, but those kinda things have no place in Pony.
 
I mean look at this old controversial Knuckles the Echidna comic cover drawn by Ken Penders, and Manny Galan. (Yes, Knux had a comic series for awhile.)  
I’m not a gun-enthusiast, nor anti-gun, but that cover makes me cringe, and even Jonathon Grey (a newer artist for the Sonic comic) voiced he doesn’t like that cover, sense it comes off as a “subtle political-leaning.”
 
Tara Strong herself did voice support for Obama/Biden, (despite being Canadian) made a remark implying Romney was the embodiment of greed, and voiced anti-gun ideals before on her Twitter. >>193769 (Sorry, I can’t find images/links to said posts yet, but I’ve seen them.) Lauren Faust also voiced “Whew!” on Twitter in regards to the election results.  
Surprisingly though, most right-wing bronies/fans overlooked all that, and still support the show.

Then again, this all wouldn’t have happened had Ted been smart enough to not put that OC into the comics or publicly displayed himself wearing a shirt from an anti-fan. He was playing with fire. Who with the right mind would not expect such a backlash?

That’s what’s maddening about this. People can’t separate the man from his work. I hope everyone who is calling for his job is not a fan of any author, artist, musician, sports star, actor, or other celebrity who holds any political or religious views that don’t 100% mesh with their own.
