I don’t buy that excuse. I think is a backpedal to keep her OC as a cameo. Imagen a racist person getting a cameo on a show were the main focal point of their abuse towards watches. It’s pretty much a huge slap in the face because they try to ignore what they say but now they’re right there.

Can’t really blame them for gong super rage mode. Fans have to put up with a ton of SJW, feminist sexism both the male and female that wont agree with them, now one of the many more deserving OCs are brushed aside for one of the most bigoted and anti-brony in official merchandise. Imagen if they gave Pinkiepony or tinker spot-light like that after all their crap.

Sending letters to Hasbro/IDW is actually a fairly good reaction to this, rather than the usual hate art and mudslinging that typically comes from something like this. Whether or not you think it’s a serious thing, and regardless of your opinions of this Dragonosphere person, linking to something like that Tumblr page through an official work is a seriously bad thing. It would be much better to see Hasbro nip this in the bud now and stop it, rather than let it continue to the point that they have no choice but to do extreme damage control and shut the whole comic down or fire the guy or something.

This is very true. When you’re using someone else’s IP, you are contractually obligated to represent the material at hand in a certain way. Giving a person like that a shout-out using an official work would have undoubtedly violated that, and is also like I said before a fairly savage slap to the face to the fanbase in general. Especially when he gave that three paragraph diatribe trying to justify it and this piece of garbage.

…This is a grey subject. As I pointed out, just because there wasn’t any of Card’s personal beliefs about homosexuality in the Ender series (none that I can remember anyways), doesn’t mean that the people who disagree with him are gonna support him and anything that has his name on it.
 
It’s like… buying the book from Card/Anderson is allowing him to continue to be able to live in such a way that he can continue to say his opinions.

Hell, I don’t even know if that got them on peoples’ sh*tlists or if so, if they’re off or what.

I was going to ask what was so awful about David McGuire’s art, as the only example of him insulting bronies I’d seen before was his calling bronies “assholes” in the wake of Derpygate, and in all honesty a lot of people (on both sides) did act like assholes then. But then I saw the image he saw celebrating the end of APM, and I understood immediately. Nothing more need be said.

To be honest, I don’t have a problem with that being his first reaction. I wouldn’t want to work for someone whose first reaction to people complaining about me was to throw me under the bus. If, after investigating, Curnow decided that this Cuteosphere user was just jim-dandy and the sort of fan they wanted to make shout-outs to, then I’d definitely have a problem.

I have to agree that, to varying degrees, being male, cisgender _{(ugh I hate that term)}, middle-class, white, and able-bodied are positions of privilege. (Well-educated, though, is within the reach of anyone who wants it enough.) I disagree that such privilege justifies any and all insults and attacks against said positions. Kicking someone in the gut isn’t as bad as whaling on them with a baseball bat, but that doesn’t mean it’s OK to start kicking people.

TSP is right to say Ted’s apology sounds hollow, especially with his vocal support of Cuteosphere’s ideals after it was given.
 
As for directly insulting the fandom, to my knowledge he has not. But he has defended such behavior, which implies that he agrees with it, and he continues to promote and defend someone who regularly attacks bronies and males in general. The connection is not difficult to make.

Nevermind about the adult fans, a big issue is that this person writing MLP comics goes on a public forum and claims that sexism and hate is OK as long as your target isn’t a minority.
 
He’s writing for a kid’s comic centered around friendship, reconciliation and helping others, while at the same time spouting the opposite, and going on to “reward” the hateful people he looks up to by including them in a comic for children.

What we want is for IDW to take disciplinary action against an employee who has, for lack of a better term, gone rogue. Personally, I don’t want the comics cancelled and I don’t want Ted fired if he’s willing to genuinely apologize. But as long as he defends his actions or the behavior of Cuteosphere, he simply does not have a place producing content for the same fandom he and his “friend” so vocally condemn. He is poor representation for a company that has put obvious effort into pleasing and respecting the adult audience as well as the young one.

Make IDW/Hasbro more careful over what content goes in the comic? Put mandates/restrictions on what goes in the comic? Remove all subtle fandom nods in the comic? Have Ted fired? Have the comics cancelled?

And honestly, I’d hate to see the comics cancelled personally… I don’t care if you guys hate them for “Reflections,” or whatever, they still had some good issues, story-arcs, and funny references in them. I even like the artwork from Andy, Tony, and Ben Bates.  
Plus it’d be unfair to the fans, and even kids who like them to. (Yes, according to writer Katie Cook alot of kids like the comics to, and says many approach her at conventions.)

While some are more extreme, we’re largely trying to focus this on Anderson rather than punishing Hasbro for it. Boycotting the comics and sending complaints to IDW are the most commonly agreed-on courses of action.

I’ve defended bronies many times before, but sadly it seems the brony-hatred is making the fanbase to sensitive, and lash out at any hater… Which unfortunately just justifies their hate, and encourages others to hate us to.  
It’s just making our reputation worse.

I’m NOT justifying that, and I heavily disagree with him, but we’re accomplishing nothing by lynching him, or demonizing IDW/the comics, or the others who work for them, that had nothing to do with this…
 
I suppose it should be brought to their attention so something like this doesn’t happen again, (and it does put Ted’s intentions into question) but it already has been, and they’re likely going to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
 
It is possible if we go to far, this could make things worse.  
How could things get worse? Perhaps IDW/Hasbro being to scared to reference anything in the comic/show from now, and perhaps remove things like Derpy again… (Remember back in the S3 days when people feared she was gone for good?) Or perhaps, tone-down the comics to much.  
I hate to fear-monger, but I don’t want something like that happening, nor the comics getting cancelled over this one li’l incident.

Calling it an “all-out-attack” on the fanbase, is a bit of a stretch…  
He could’ve done much worse then two measly cameos that don’t effect the story at all… Honestly, I didn’t know who those OCs were, and never even heard of said artists before, until people starting calling for Ted’s head on a spike…
 
Also, it’s most likely IDW wasn’t even aware of the cameos, or even aware of who those people were. Ted may have issues, and I can’t say what his motivations for including those OCs were, but I doubt he is stupid enough to try to intentionally insult/anger the fanbase.

Point taken. Though in my opinion if anyone should be contacted, it should be IDW first. Give them a chance to settle it internally/locally instead of calling in the big dogs that’ll make them fearful to stray slightly off the ordered path ever again. That’s going to hurt more than just the one guy on staff; it’s going to hurt the risks they’ll take with future issues.

There’s no reason to stop people from sending mails to Hasbro (assuming they can write properly). Hasbro licenses out to IDW and IDW pays Anderson and Anderson insults fans of Hasbro’s products, plus associates their products with hateful content.
 
Fanartists/writers can do whatever the hell they want, but this guy’s supporting sexism and hatred on an official capacity and representing Hasbro/IDW.
