Fair enough.
Give how he intended on boosting Twilight’s confidence, he is probably going to go “I bet this makes Twilight even more confident” or something.
Probably surprised and probably hoping it makes the others less pissed at him for pulling this crap in the first place.
Point is he never intended on reforming them but was only planning on essentially sacrificing them for Twilight’s ego, but he will probably go “well that’s a bonus” if they reformed anyway.
Okay, I know I said I was done arguing, but I just wanted to say one last thing: If he didn’t care about what happened to the trio during his plan, then maybe he also wouldn’t bat an eye if they reformed.
Edited
No, but he did do the same thing as Discord. And he was still considered a villain, unlike Discord, who was only given a slap on his wrist.
If you want to. Be my guest. I read about Simon Keyes and he’s not pure evil, though.
Edited
Might I compare him to another character named Simon Keyes?
Fine. I can’t ever win so I’m giving up. You may have a problem with Discord’s actions, but I don’t. I’m done arguing.
I am only pointing out the facts about what was Discord doing.
Discord was using them as disposable pawns, nothing more. With how it looks and how its worded, he never intended on reforming them at all, just planning on sacrificing them to try to boost Twilight’s ego(who didn’t need the boost like that in the first place).
Him thinking its ok at all to use anyone as pawns like that is something pre-reform Discord would do. He needs to be called out that its not ok to use any living beings like that.
Him not caring and seeing other beings as playthings or disposable stuff is what got him to get turned to stone in the first place. If he isn’t called out on that, he’s going to end up doing it again in some way or another.
So you’re just going to invalidate any argument in favor of official canon? I honestly can’t help but feel like you enjoy these arguments since you just keep coming up with ways to prolong them.
Its clear he doesn’t care what happens to the trio during his plan.
Sombra clearly gotten killed right there. Discord did not bat an eye
So if the trio ends up getting killed or banished to some place worse than Tartarus during the battle(or be turned to stone), he’s not going to bat an eye.
Discord would have still shown disappointment regardless if the trio looked unsympathetic, if he was intending on reforming them. Like wouldn’t you feel bummed you caused a huge ruckus to reform someone only for that to fail too?
You mean like Power Rangers, Thomas the Tank Engine, and shows like that? You act like they shouldn’t be examined or enjoyed by adults.

Now that makes me hate Discord even more.
@Andyxdr
I admire your optimism for Discord, but this show, kids show or no, we need proof that it was his intention on reform him.

Maybe while he showed them Sombra’s death to convince them they had to work together, it’s possible that he didn’t necessarily arrange for them to get killed or anything and he was planning on having them get defeated and maybe they could’ve learned that even by working together, they can never beat Twilight and her friends and so staying evil just wouldn’t be worth it and maybe they’d consider reforming, but that wasn’t the case. Also, maybe he didn’t show disappointment because what the villains did and their refusal to reform made them unsympathetic to him.
Chrysalis might have reformed actually.
She was broken and all crazy when “Grogar” plucked her.
If someone found her and gave her help, it might shown her the way. Or at least give the ponies insight on why was she too stubborn to reform.
I mean, Starlight didn’t reform after her first defeat but after she was shown whats going on the second time, she stopped.
@Andyxdr
Sadly its clear he tried to use them as disposable pawns.
He didn’t care that Sombra died again right there. Its disturbing to think what will happen to the trio if his plan didn’t went haywire.
He also shown no disappointment when it turns out the trio won’t reform. He just did not care at all pretty much.
Chrysalis, most likely, but the other two, I might throw a bone.

I think they were unrepentant even before that.
If they were unrepentant, it was thanks to Discord bringing them together and powering them up to insanity.
Also, maybe he mocked them after they were petrified because it was made clear that they were unrepentant and irredeemable.
Better than nothing, though.
If there was, it must’ve been extremely microscopic.
Well, sure, but still, there has to be a chance that he’d hope they’d think about turning good after being defeated.
Its more like he used Sombra’s death to scare the trio into working together rather than going “You will end up like him if you continue being evil”.
The words coming out of Grogar’s mouth was to make them work together. That would be really hard to discourage them from being evil if he was actively ENCOURAGING them to be evil TOGETHER pretty much.
Well, he did that to keep them in check and maybe another reason why he showed them Sombra’s death was to make them afraid of staying evil so they won’t end up like him.
Maybe. But still, it’d have been better if he gave a hint. And the fact that he zapped them with such an excited smile on his face and mocking them with their fate leads me to believe he wanted them to lose. Even if he did want them to reform, it doesn’t justify the abuse he put them through nor using Sombra’s death as an example.
