It’s kinda why I don’t expect it will happen or if it does it won’t go very far. They will attack trans people to create scapegoats. But porn is consumed by too many of their supporters and so going after it will be a lot of hassle for no gain.
If history is any indication politicians usually only do the things the religious right wants that serve them. If it doesn’t serve them then they just don’t do it.

In other news, Sarah McBride will become the first openly transgender person in Congress thanks to this election. And Republicans are celebrating by passing a bill to - pause for the cause - bar them from using the bathroom of their chosen gender in Congress. You know the kind of bills they pushed on schools to “protect the children”…but now for Congress?
Meanwhile basically none in Trump’s administration is allowed within 100 feet of a school. So you know, priorities.

The most frustrating part of all this is how quickly Representative McBride capitulated, calling it a distraction and agreeing to abide by the rules imposed on her. This has emboldened Mace, who has now introduced a bill to force trans people to use the restroom of their assigned sex at birth on all federal property, including Dulles Airport, national parks, and other government buildings.
Fox News aired a whole segment dedicated to gleefully misgendering and deadnaming McBride, and Libs of Tik Tok posted wishing her by her deadname a happy International Men’s Day. Fuckers smell blood in the water, and the escalation of their rhetoric (particularly from Mace herself) is pretty unprecedented.

A thing about right wing rhetoric I find interesting is how their mentality that people want to work switches depending on the narrative. People do want to work which is why welfare is no danger to that and why unions are needed to protect people from that drive to work being exploited.
However when this is brought up suddenly their argument shifts to that people do not want to work unless they are forced to.

I do believe people have an innate desire to work and feel useful and important. Which is why I believe working should be optional and not mandatory to live in the 21th century. If no one wants to work for you well then that’s your fault as a boss.
Most very low paying jobs are jobs that don’t need to exist. It’s why having a high minimum wage is good because it also serves as a filter for bullshit jobs. If someone’s work is not worth enough to pay them a living wage then it shouldn’t exist.
If there truly is no other way then it should just be nationalized. If a job needs to be done but it’s impossible to make a profit while paying someone a liveable wage for it then that means it’s a service that just isn’t compatible with capitalism. I think we should just admit rather than trying to brute force every aspect into the capitalist mold even if it doesn’t fit.

The right is mainly the capitalists and whatever they use to convince people. Rather it’s scapegoats, deflecting blame for corporate actions onto governments, blaming workers for their own misery, creating culture war nonsense to distract people and whatever more.
The “religious right” is just a servant of big money.

Try to first figure out if it makes sense. If it doesn’t then double check it. If someone makes a big claim that doesn’t make sense in 95% of cases it’s complete bullshit. That 5% usually is clear though if you push it a little cause they will usually admit that it makes no sense and will be confused about it themselves. If someone is being evasive or defensive about it making no sense then most likely they made it up.

The problem of the internet is too much information. You find ‘evidence’ for any political position you want. This is the official propaganda strategy of the Russian media and I feel the American media too. They don’t try to create a coherent narrative but rather try to overwhelm people with so much misinformation they get confused and exhausted.

I also do think a big part of it is the lack of socialist alternatives to fascism and how much corporate bias there is in not just legacy media but Netflix, Twitter and Youtube as well. There won’t be a popular exposition of the complicated and twisted history of Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos the way there was for John. D. Rockefeller or Henry Ford where most people know it and they know how much of it was build on abuse of power, fraud, exploitation, extortion and just dumb luck.
Every success is a very complex tale of circumstance and the work of thousands of people. So once you find out how complex it is it stops making sense for just the capitalist to take all the gains and the glory.

She should really be standing up for herself. I won’t be celebrating the first trans congressperson if she’s willing to go along with our dehumanization. There is no risk of having trans people in the bathroom, studies have not shown any evidence of it leading to more rapes or whatever we’re supposed to be afraid of. Stand up for your self, goddammit!!!
I don’t even like using the public bathroom. I try to avoid it as much as possible. But this is an instance where you need to use civil disobedience. The whole goddamn country is abandoning trans rights, because none of the politicians or media ever gave a shit and they realized that the Right is more passionate about it. This does not just represent a “Sarah McBride ban,” it’s a ban for an entire group of people. Cowardice will fucking kill us!!!!!

Don’t forget that there was no Woman’s toilet in the US House Of Representatives until 2011. The topic of which they had studied and researched for 5 years before deciding that maybe women pee. Until then, the nearest women’s restroom was 5 minutes away.
Please note that the first women in the House Of Representatives was in 1917. So women were working as representatives in the House for 94 years before they had equal facilities.
So it’s not like the Representatives in the US are the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to questions like “do women pee?” and “should women have a place to do that, assuming science is able to determine, and the bible permits, a room for women to pee in?”
Please don’t tell all those old white men that women poop too, the shock might kill them.
But - all of this raises the question. Why the F doesn’t the US Congress have private restrooms? Are they still pissing and shitting in communal rooms? And why is it important to them to check everyone’s junk when they use the rest room? Do they think they’re still in highschool?
