So it sounds like Donald Trump will be naming Florida’s Surgeon General, Joseph Ladapo, to a high office, either (federal) Surgeon General or Deputy Secretary of HHS.

In addition to being an antivaxxer, he is the architect of Florida’s ban on adult trans access to healthcare. With him and RFK Jr in power, expect to see multiple fabricated “studies” claiming to prove that gender transition is ineffective or harmful, like the Cass Report in the UK.

This in turn could be used to justify a full ban on access to gender-affirming care for trans people of all ages, further turn cis people against trans people, and enable further discrimination and violence.

But, I’m curious … they APPEAR to think that Elon Musk is a part of the US Federal government, or could do anything to set funding levels for the Pentagon. Which, if true, would be crazy. Possibly because he drank too much of his own Kool-aid.

So .. is that just some sort of entertaining satire channel, like The Onion?

Or is whomever that person is genuinely crazy and/or stupid? Like, I could completely believe it if they were a Russian or Turkey entertainer with no actual idea how the US Federal government or the Pentagon actually work. In that case, the ignorance would make sense.

They are Cenk Uygur, the Turkish-American creator and head of an online political news/commentary channel called The Young Turks

I’m not familiar with him/the group myself but from what I can gather from this thread they started off prerty left leaning and progressive, but over the years have become more Conservative leaning

Cenk Uyghur is the host and founder of The Young Turks, a (formerly) progressive news organization. He also tried and failed both a run for Congress in 2022 and president in 2024.

Used to be and currently is still one of the largest “lefty” channels on the internet, but has been making some hard right turns thanks to financial trouble.

If you heard of Ana Kasparian, he’s her boss and co-host. If you heard of Hasan Piker, he’s his uncle.

So yeah he’s pretty big in the Breadtube circles, which make his absolute refusal to fix his gas leak all the more disappointing.

Like i know the origin of WHY its called that but i think something like “Lefty/social”-tube would be better. Because if you ask someone what “Leftytube” means 9/10 times they’d probably think you were talking about cooking/baking videos or something

It’s disappointing to see people turning conservative because of money.

Breadtube has largely collapsed from what I can tell. I only ever hear about hbomberguy (who I’m subbed to) and Contrapoints these days. The rest seem to have descended into grifting or irrelevancy.

I don’t know about you guys, but with Trump’s imminent return to office, there’s a strong likelihood of firings that would occur during his second term tenure because of the political discourse of his choosing within his cabinet.

It’s highly probable that those fired will author revealing memoirs about their time working under Trump’s government, or they would hide underneath and wait until after his term is up.

I’ve lost count so far.

Trump is a pedophile rapist. Musk is probably a pedophile but definitely a sexual harasser. Matt Gaetz is a pedophile. Linda McMahon is being sued because her husband is a rapist.

But I actually have been curious how everyone here feels about him. And not just him. Election predictors in general. Has this election affected their opinions there?

I already called a couple of his “keys” being incorrect from interpretation before the election.

The “Opponent is uncharismatic” key was the major one I had issue with. It was supposed to go to Harris, but the problem is that Trump has this weird kind of “Schrodinger’s charisma”. If you already know his tricks or actually read a transcript of what he says, he’s a gibbering moronic whiner. If you don’t then you get swept up in how he speaks with such conviction that linguists have pointed out that he orates with the same urgency as someone scared for their life, triggering reflexive sympathy from his audience.

Sure enough whether the 13 Keys had any worth or not was moot, Lichtman thought more people would fall under the former than the latter, which meant doom since Harris had the exact minimum keys needed to win in his model.
