Because kid’s shows are not allowed to be deep and are exempt from analysis and criticism.
Gotcha.
Yep. Crystal Heart and Elements, despite being mysterious, we’re given enough information to postulate about, and they can be brought back without a whoooole lot of exposition. In fact an episode about Twilight studying them could still be done without affecting their previous canonical effects at all. That damned spell wasn’t even consistent however, in a single episode. That’s…uh, pretty bad.
A simple way to answer the question of what the change destiny spell is would be to show what happens when Twilight casts it a second time, or if another unicorn casts it. However, I get the feeling that they are never even going to bring it up again, because it was a bulshitonium plot device for the one episode and they admit that they don’t really know what it was supposed to do other than giving Twilight wings (which has nothing to do with changing destinies anyway).
When an episode is as broken as MMC, it will be a lot easier for them to just sweep it all under the rug and act like they don’t need to explain anything than it would be if they actually try to provide answers. If they actually try to explain away all the crap that went unexplained in MMC next season, the target audience is going going to be bored to tears.
You are right, my mistake. That just raises further question, like for example, why does the crystal heart destroy sombra when it’s whole job was spreading love across equestria? Still, I was wrong in saying the elements killed sombra.
I just don’t see how the change destiny spell is that much more out there than any of the other plot devices of the show that drives the story along.
Wasn’t it the Crystal Heart that destroyed Sombra?
Also, I think the reason they never destroyed Discord is that they are of a non-lethal nature.
That’s not wrong, but the change destiny spell makes a lot less sense than the Elements, because we have no idea what the spell is, what is was supposed to do in the first place, how it works, et cetera, et cetera.
I don’t know why, but I am much less bugged by the Elements of Harmony than Starswirl’s spell.
But than they can do things like turn you into a shadow and lock you in the arctic, and than blow you to pieces, like they did sombra.
I suspect that if we asked the team the question, we’d get more or less the same answer as they gave regarding the “change destiny spell”.
This show was never one with a hard lore or continuity, so holding this one particular thing up as if it were that type of show doesn’t seem fair.
Well, the way I see it, the Elements create harmony in times of chaos. That’s why they healed Luna, by stripping the chaotic and hateful magic off her, and why they petrified Discord, because he is chaos incarnate.
But yeah, some clarification would be nice. Sadly, I don’t think we’re ever gonna get it.
Whoops, I missed those two. Other than that, he was doing pretty good.
“You people are just fucking hypocrites.”
“…to cover your sorry ass.”
These are the type of things that turn discussions into flamewars. If you can’t have a civil discussion, then don’t have one at all.
Disagreement is fine, disrespect is not.
I’m going to be less lenient about that fact because frankly it’s being ignored far too often.
Rule #0
Be excellent to each other
This is the most important rule.
MLP:FiM is about sharing, friendship, and understanding. Don’t drag the site down into flamewars and angst - keep it constructive and positive.
Criticism is fine, but not baseless criticism. Provide feedback - artists will appreciate constructive criticism but outright anger and annoyance will just drive artists away, and this site is about sharing and celebrating all art related to the show, no matter the talent or experience of the artist.
This rule applies to all user contributions to the site - image uploads, comments, messages and reports. Personal attacks, even if in a form related to the fandom, and nasty material which is directed at another user or group of users on the site will be removed and offending users warned or banned. This includes racial, sexual or religious discrimination and other abusive content.
Not to pick nits, but I don’t think Fanloser needs a time-out.
You both need a time-out to brush up on rule zero.
No, you’re making shit up. There are no hints, subtle or otherwise. You’re literally trying to force yourself to believe your headcanon is right, no matter what. That’s just sad.
No, you’re assuming that because it’s not explicitly said in every fucking episode that it’s left unexplained, yet ignoring the subtle hints that reinforce the possibility that they are sentient.
Knowing her, it was in reference to being chosen by DESTINY, not the EOH. Now, you’re just making shit up just so your headcanon doesn’t seem wrong. You and CR would get along great.
Actually, Celestia has said in the show that they were chosen. And I highly doubt that someone who can’t even get them working could possibly be the one that chose.
And all your evidence of the EoH being undefined is all about how their effect changes under certain circumstances, which is something as undeniably alive as magic would do constantly.
Game. Set. Match. I’m hungry.
Concrete evidence? You have yet to provide any of that. All you’re doing is using your personal fanon instead of actual MLP media.
No, that’s all you. In fact, you’re ignoring concrete evidence that contradicts your theory.
Actually, you kind of are.
Hey, I’m not the one using the absence of evidence as evidence of an absence.
