That seems way to muddy and confusing to be a good tagging rule, especially considering the fact that the “distinctness” of Bridge!Goji’s personality is really up for debate.

I’ve heard it put as FO:E or Fo:E with a “:” to clarify the difference. Shame a popular story has a similar acronym to quite honestly one of the worst fan creations I’ve ever seen.

My story ain’t for everyone, the designs I helped do aren’t for everyone, hells fan fiction in general isn’t for everyone because we all know Sturgeon’s Law is in full force.

Besides that, there’s nothing much to do in the story: Caribous instawin because they allied with Discord (and I think then they defeat him because they are the best) and the rest of the story is all about why the Caribou are better and the ponies must learn their new place in the world. Period.

I’m sure the story is better than the crossover wackiness I’m used to, but in this one, just the design for Godzilla is too much even for me.. That’s all there is to it, really.
 
it’s the exact same deal breaker for me as FOE. Heard it’s good, lots of people like it, but just the idea turns me off as soon as I hear it. It’s just not the kind of mix up I care for, even the bleach story I’d mentioned was pretty bad.

Fic author here, and trust me I know how whacko the story sounds. Just because I’m a G-fan I am not alien to the inherent craziness that comes with the territory. Though to be fair, a lot of fanfics, especially crossovers, sound insane at first glance (Post Fallout ponies, world destroying barriers, Hasbro’verse, etc.); so I don’t pretend for a moment what I’ve done is high fiction. As for subject matter, the Toho Kaiju series actually had some fun lore to play around with and some opportunity.
 
Take Godzilla Jr., the subject in this picture. We saw him grow up over the course of the 90s series from a gentle-as-a-lamb infant raised by humans in an institute, to a power house teenager charging into a fight with a stronger monster to protect the humans caught in the way; with the series ending on him growing to an adult and taking his adoptive father’s place. We get hints of character from a clearly sentient being, such as crying when he had to leave his mother figure, playing with visitors to his island home, and figuring out the situations he’s put in, even communicating with a few telepaths (yes psychic humans are a thing in Toho, it’s a weird world); but we never heard him verbally talk. Not just a big monster.  
So I felt I had an opportunity here to expand the character. What has he been up too in the past 17 years? What does a fairly benign kaiju totally unlike his predecessors think? How would he react in completely new circumstances? So it’s kinda a weird bridge between a Canon character and an original creation as I got to tread a lot of new ground while keeping the roots Toho gave me.
 
I did my best shot, people seemed to like it; and people started giving him romantic pairings despite be avoiding such in-story. If they do so? Oh well, more power to them and have fun. If people don’t like it or the source material? Same reasons above. I’m no pro writer, not everyone is gonna like my stuff or things spun off from it.
 
 
I write to entertain folks to give them a good time. And hells, if just an idea spun off my writing gave a nice person like you a good laugh, I’ll give myself a smile :)
 
 
PS: Oh and the ponified thing? Partly because my girlfriend and co-creator helped make such cool looking designs, partly to give the two cast herds the ability to interact, and partly because it’s a plot point (they don’t always look like this). Besides if we didn’t do it, someone would have. Pretty sure “If __ exists, there’s a pony of it” is an internet rule by now ;)

like I said mate, I’m good. I’ve had a fairly similar experience with another story that was a huge guilty pleasure named Cuatro, but comparatively to that one’s Luna x Ulquiorra shipping and this one’s pony Godzilla, for me at least, I think this one takes the ridiculous to the nth degree cake.
 
you can’t make this kind of shit up.. This is a story about Pony Godzilla. and hours later after finding out about it, I’m still laughing my brains off. ^^  
but yeah, if there’s anything I can thank this story for is giving me the privilege of knowing its existence, it made for a great laugh and one that will probably take weeks to get over.
