There is a saying. What the artists’ produce don’t always reflect their own true views.
Yeah, the text accompanying the image wasn’t sincere. There was no actual blood spilled, and so there shouldn’t be any metaphorical blood on other people’s hands. Just a joke, maybe a bit poor in taste.
Oh good on you. Chastity is a hard road, and wish you the best of luck on it. I certainly couldn’t do it (not that i’m popular with ladies anyway).
Yeah i’m straight too, and not really into dungeon sex either. Just thought it was an interesting segue.
I’ll try to make it up to Rainbow Dash in another painting for sure.
Its a provocative piece. Art is supposed to evoke feelings.
Ah, I just thought that guilt was the goal because of the “you have blood on your hands…” bit.
And as tempting as that might otherwise be, I got this saving-myself-for-significant other thing and I’m straight, so unless you’re a female and we decide to get married first, I’ll have to decline the fungeon invite Xp
Rainbow Dash needs some comforting after her execution, though, so some ponycuddles may be warranted.
That’s true. I didn’t expect such a backlash, but it was still fun. I was inspired by the Futurists, Dadaists and Surrealists with their disregard of the sacred and shit stirring.
In all honesty, it was not my intention to make down voters guilty. It was done to get a (hostile or comedic) response. If you feel guilty for Rainbow Dash’s fictional death, you must be a kind person.
I don’t bear any ill-will for good old a Rainbow Dash. She was just the pony I ended picking in the end. When I painted this, I was in a rush! People where responding to my images, and I was replying with images.
I don’t feel guilty when terrorists execute hostages, but I do feel helpless, angry and sad. Nobody should feel guilty about this image, except me. It was just a lively exchange between derpibooru and I.
Hey, that’s real big of you to admit that you may have been a bit aggressive. I really appreciate that. Maybe Rainbow Dash, you and I could hang out in a fungeon.
Eh, sure.
I wasn’t assuming you did this with the goal of getting an exceedingly high rating, just that you probably weren’t expecting such a negative rating on the first one.
Heh, that was a funny crack about terrorists and cartoonists. But yeah, granted all that you said, even despite that it’s still the same mentality of trying to make others feel guilty for something you did.
I was, however, way too eager to go in guns blazing, sorry about that.
Also, I don’t have one, no, but I believe it’d be called a “fungeon” if I did, not a dungeon :p
It was attention I was seeking, and its attention which I got.
Rainbow Dash isn’t real… Sorry to burst your bubble. Heck, even if she was, if I drew a picture of her dead… She wouldn’t actually be dead, would she? You make it out like i’m some kind of terrorist, when its actually the terrorists that kill the cartoonists usually.
You don’t know much about my mentality. You’re assuming I did this with the goal of this getting a 100% like rating. That is totally unrealistic.
Tell me, don’t most artists get frustrated that their audience doesn’t like their work enough? Are you that unfamiliar with what its like?
Because of the use of one word/ contraction, you can diagnose me with all these conditions can you? Geez. Who needs shrinks any more? Can I make an appointment?
And such contempt for people who study art. Do you not like art or something? Why are you here then? Or is it people who spend their time and energy on art that you dislike?
When I say “conservatives” I don’t mean it in the same way you’re thinking. I’m not talking about conservatives/ progressives in the political landscape. I’m using the word “conservative” in an art context. You know, like people who have a disdain for modern art, without even trying to understand it. People who like to stick with the tradition of traditional oil paintings say.
Thanks for enlightening me on torture/ execution devices. Do you have your own dungeon? Can I play?
I’m not sure if you noticed, but this image was done rather rapidly. Historical accuracy wasn’t the biggest priority, especially when depicting a blue pony with a rainbow mane.
Thanks for not meaning to offend. Though, that’s hard to believe when you start off the bat by trying to assess my mental state and then proceed to colour all art students to be similar.
I love you as a fellow human being. I wish you good fortune…
Now to clop…
At least you don’t go out and attack others over art you disagree with.
@Wiinajamizzi
Ah, SJW, that explains this passive-aggressive self-victimizing behavior. But then again, from an arts’ college, what should I have expected?

I found it funny how you randomly threw in “conservatives” as your downvoters. Hehe, yes, conservatives are secretly behind everything bad in the world - that is to say, everything that displeases you. We are the ultimate evil behind everything, and usually uneducated.
There’s a fun thread for political discussions as long as civility is maintained. I’m considering mentioning this there.
Also, guillotines are completely different from stockades. No hoof holes, because that’d mean chopping their hooves off, too, which would make even more of a mess than a guillotine.
Also, no particular offense, I’m just kind of blunt sometimes.
That’s true. I suppose its due to my laziness and or negligence that I often forget to include an artist’s statement or description. You’re right, perhaps it would be sensible to add that in especially for controversial images.
I’ll try to do that in future. Thanks.
I can understand that I don’t judge artist’s by how the quality of their pictures look because I know a lot of people just can’t achieve that level of quality we see from other artists I look at the message of what was made and so long as that shines through it’s good, I think when I saw the word Derpibooru I got defensive about it, I see pictures of the characters dead all the time and they don’t always mean they hate that character it’s just to drive home the meaning or add to the story it’s just kind of hard to see it in this image. Have you tried writing a description for some of your art to get the point of the piece across I know art is supposed to be interpreted but when it’s always interpreted the same way maybe telling us what you think it means may clear that up.
That’s what i’ve discovered. People are downvoting my images because they SEEM to be offensive/ or imply that I have little skill.
Not many people know how to interpret texts or images outside of their literal/ superficial or apparent meaning. A lot of people in general don’t know how to identify and analyze allegorical subjects or try to understand the intention of the artist. I think that’s why sometimes I am met with harsh hostility.
That’s not to say that I know all there is and my art is absolutely perfect. Far from it. I’m used to having my work critiqued. It irks me sometimes when some folk are hostile without understanding what i’m trying to say.
I am a brony. Rainbow Dash is my 2nd most favourite pony. I love the brony sub-culture for the most part (nobody’s perfect). Yet people look at my series of paintings and make hasty assumptions.
Thanks for your concern, and I do realise that this artwork may make me look sinister. Though its something that I enjoyed doing, and as an artist, I feel I have the right to express myself in whichever way i’d like. That doesn’t mean that I wont express myself in other ways too.
People have the right to think what they want, but in turn, I should be able to do the same.
Your surprised people might be downvoting your pictures when you make stuff like this, it makes it seem like you hate the character or the show which a lot of people hold dear to them or you hate the site itself and the people here because of folly reasons. You seem like knowledgeable person and I would love to see art from you I like to see people improve their skills and we could talk regularly but this stuff doesn’t show your personality in a good light.
I said I wasn’t THAT mad. Meaning, not as angry as one would think. I wont deny that anger played a minor part. I did find the creation and aftermath of this series of paintings enjoyable.
One can be upset without feeling much anger (despair, sorrow, helpless, neglect and other emotions or feelings may play a bigger part). I would also suspect that boredom may have amplified the feelings I had at the time.
I’m not upset with the site per se, just some of the attitudes of some of the people in it. I expressed myself through digital painting.
Okay so you’re not angry, then why are you making stuff that makes it seem like you’re upset with this sight?
Believe what you want, but I wasn’t that “mad” when making this series. Perhaps a bit frustrated as to why some of my works get a lot of down votes.
It was therapeutic to me to see everyone’s comments and engage in some fun discussion.
Hahaha, gross.
I meant what is this picture even about.
That would be me.
Cheerio a la Bear Grylls.
Geez, who pissed in your cheerios.
Not even that much blood. This barely even counts as a Tuesday for me.
Fair enough dude. That’s really your call.
I’m an attention whore, and I like arguing about topics i’m interested in. I’ll be honest, and say that this probably isn’t going to be the last of it.
If my conduct has made you become less interested in my art, that’s fine. I wouldn’t say that I don’t care, but I can’t force you to like me. Thanks for sharing those kind words before you go. You could have just left, but you took the time to tell me how you feel. Thank you.
Just a word in my defence, and also for your own interest in art. I personally don’t let an artist’s lifestyle or behaviour colour my impressions on their work, but rather help me interpret it. Artists tend to be eccentric people and often times they are interesting, and knowing about them may help you understand their work more. I’ve been reading a lot about Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh recently, and I was moved to tears. (I’d recommend “The Yellow House, Van Gogh, Gauguin and Nine Turbulent Weeks in Arles” by Martin Gayford)
There are artists like Giacometti, Schielle, Picasso, Gauguin and so on, who I admire as artists. But those artists are misogynistic, incestuous, and/ or statutory rapists. I for one would be missing out on a lot of great art if I avoided their work for those artists’ reprehensible beliefs and actions.
I’m not even in the same galaxy as those artists, so the comparison was quite difficult to make, but hopefully you understand where I am coming from. If you wish to avoid my work, that’s your choice, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t separate an artist’s questionable behaviour and their work.
I wish you truth, goodness and beauty, sir/ madam/ gender neutral title.
You probably don’t care what I think though, so do w/e you feel gets you the most attention.
