“You were inside of me.”
“…”
“Trixie’s dreams.”
“THANK YOU! This is a kid’s show!”
“SPIIIKE! Self Esteem’s Big Book of Coping Devices, stat!”
TS: “Hi Trixie! What have you been up to?”
Tr: “Your image is the dark recollection that haunts my mind, you represent every regret that keeps me awake at night.”
Tr: “Okay that sounded creepy and wrong.”
I recommend eating some armadillo soup, it’s the best thing for bitterness.
I’m just bitter then. :/
I still believe that it’s less about what’s hot and more about what people think is cute and interesting.
I don’t like Foudubulbe’s rendition of Maud/Trixie because he depicts hot lesbian action (that sounded weird) but rather for the humor and quirkiness that these two characters, that happen to be female, produce from interacting with one another.
Yeah, but I’m not directly talking about the ship now.
Haven’t you been on this before? Are you the same Bp that keeps coming to talk smack about this ship?
I still don’t think it has anything to do with numbers, but just that a large number of bronies think lesbians are hot, so that’s what’s most common.
But perhaps I’m just bitter, that’s always a posibility too.
Okay lets ignore all the hours of calculus I did on my abacus made out of potatoes.
Every male that appeared in MLP FIM has been shipped with backgroup ponies or the mane 6, it’s not like there is a conspiracy to make everyone a lesbian. It’s just that the majority of characters are female, therefore the majority of pairings are between females, I would think.
But I have to admit that I don’t follow any other fandoms so I don’t know about the percentage of hetero to gay ships in other shows…
The show is not as exclusively female as so many fans pretend like it is.
Your percentage is wrong even if you take main characters only into account, and yes, Spike is a main character.
I’m guessing you were not 100% serious with that line though.
I’ve seen franchises with barely any females in it, and yet they get a good chunk of the porn all to themselves compared to the more common males.
Point is, as long as a female exists, fans will exploit their femaleness and make them a lesbian for whatever reason, almost ignoring the males, even if there are a lot of them.
Its not fair, and while a show having more females just gives fans more variety, even if it had just a few females, they would still be pretty commonly seen in stuff.
tl;dr: numbers don’t mean shit in the longrun.
Lyra and Bonbon were not seen together all the time before, there were only a couple of scenes. After the fandom picked up on them the animators started to put them in the same place more often as a wink to the audience, culminating into scenes where they clearly care for each other.
@Background Pony #63AC
I do get your point on friendshipping over plain old shipping, and I agree in that instance. As for something different: in a show where 99.999 percent of the characters are female (I did the math, trust me I’m a farmer) pairings are bound to be predominately lesbian. Ain’t no problem with that.
Well I meant lesbian ships in general for characters that have shown zero interest in, well, anything.
Dunno how ‘overdone’ you can call a ship basically helmed by one comic artist, but fair ’nuff on your preferences.
“I think she went back to school to get her degree-”
“I am going to major in rocks.”
Maud: Pretty much entire personality.
Dash: Stubborness, tomboyishness, everything from Testing Testing 123.
And to be fair, both ponies have very nice designs to me as well.
Makes perfect sense to me!
Wait, how can you resonate with Maud and Dash?
Well, Mauxie is kind of a crack ship to begin with, which is partially why I’ve been enjoying it so far.
Pretty much that.
@armadiloeater
I still don’t think this ship works, and that may be because I desperately want to see more straight Maud as I resonate deeply with her personality, similar to Dash.
No, I’m not implying that I think lesbian ships is bad because there;s anything wrong with it, just that I want to see something that isn’t
forcefully overdonethe same as it always is.There’s no reason this had to be a ship, it could have been presented as just friendship and not a relationship just to be dfferent as not everything needs to be shipping. But that’s just me.
Is it because the two of them are always seen hanging out together and as they’re both background ponies they have little to no characterization or canonical information about their backstories?
We don’t know much about these two or their interaction, and that is precisely why this ship works.
It doesn’t clash with canon too much and the characters had to have met on the rock farm.
Flutterbulk is cute but you can’t do much with Fluttershy without being accused of OOC in some way. Better to stick with unknown elements. Why do you think Lyrabon is the most accepted ship, so much that it has bled into canon?
Except we know Trixie worked on the rock farm, an Maud lives on the rock farm… It’s assumed that they’ve met.
Hey, Trix spent at least some time working for Maud’s family. In the absence of any evidence the Dourest Pie(R) was elsewhere at the time, that’s close enough to invoke the Proximity Rule(TM). Tell me ships haven’t been launched on less.
For what it’s worth, I find Shyceps(C) more plausible than Fluttermac & more sanity-conducive than Fluttercord (granted, that ain’t hard to be).
