Maybe to give the mane 6 a relatively normal life where they don’t have to worry about the burden of being heroes/celebs, Celestia or Luna put some sort of “mudanity” charm on them? But that doesn’t explain how DT and SS got all excited about Twilight in “Twilight Time.”
Over-analyzing a kid’s show is fun! (Really, I’m being sincere right now. It is fun to fill in the plot holes.)
Yup maybe Twi is just named for the same book character as the balloon.
I’m inclined to believe that the balloon belongs to her, I wonder if Ponyville has a small municipal airport?
I’d imagine that it would make for a pretty cool play set, include both the balloon and the helicopter.
I was just thinking they were incredibly fickle, but that makes more sense.
I was thinking about the important stuff that happened in the comics, that are never mentioned in the show..
I was also thinking about the important stuff that happened in the past seasons that are rarely ever mentioned ever again…
Like when people argue over how much recognition Twilight should receive for all the times she has saved equestria..
Maybe the common pony has very short term memory?
Cherry Berry likes bugs but isn’t fond of bees.
Cherry Berry likes jam but isn’t fond of jelly.
Cherry Berry likes jokes but isn’t fond of riddles.
Cherry Berry likes reading but isn’t fond of books.
Cherry Berry likes bathing but isn’t fond of swimming.
Cherry Berry likes fruits but isn’t fond of apples.
Cherry Berry likes badminton but isn’t fond of tennis.
Wait. Pinkie built a pedal-powered flying machine on her own in “Griffon the Brush-off”, didn’t she? I know, it’s Pinkie Pie, but it implies that it’s something any pony could do…
Or, whatever, the Lawful Good monarch is a filthy thief and scavenger.
Doesn’t matter, they’re not explicitly noncanon either, that’s the policy. For now, the only official explanation for their variable tech is that some of it is stolen from parallel universes. That doesn’t mean it all is, since they have scientists, builders and explorers on their own planet.
As for the helicopter, we know Earth ponies are much stronger than the other races, therefore it could be something only Earth ponies can power.
Yes, precisely–it’s like how the Inca never invented the wheel except on pull-toys, for another example. TV Tropes files this one under “alternate tech line” and “aliens never invented the wheel”.
Pretty much electricity is kind of looked down upon because it’s just so easy for 2 of 3 races to interact with it so they don’t really think about any higher applications for technology that could run on it. What electricity does exist is likely for toys or medical.
Kinda similar to how the ancient greeks had tiny steam engines but never thought of upscaling them since slaves were thought to cost a whole lot less, so it got relegated to richboytoys and occasionally automated door openers. So Equestria’s tech is all skewy because they’ve skipped a few important steps in most of their inventions.
This. I like this. And it fits with Lauren saying that anything with visible electric parts is actually powered by magic (such as the SSCS6K).
Most prominent being that pegasi can somewhat control electricity through clouds, so only big and gigantic projects like the dam get put forth. All ‘modern-looking’ objects are not electrical but mechanical in nature, such as the movie projector in Babs Seed and the game machine Button Mash is playing in H&H. The appreciation for electrical technology simply isn’t there amongst most of ponykind, while mechanical things are considered art.
This, Hasbro only goes over them to make sure there aren’t brand contradictions/stuff they could get sued over.
they do this to avoid contradictions.
but DHX gives IDW the episode scripts long before those episodes.
Exactly, and they shouldn’t have believed it–nightmare spirits and all that. Also, the idea of Celestia just straight up stealing tech just doesn’t sit well with me. I’m taking the opposite approach: unless confirmed by the show, non-canon.
@LuminoZero
Maybe we can get a remake of “ Rescue at Midnight Castle”.
It’s Hasbro that approves the comics, not DHX staff.
It’ll happen eventually…
But we know Hasbro would never make an MLP movie with actual ponies, that would be dumb.
-Lumino
There was no truth. As irritating as that was, he was just a Scooby-Doo thing.
Hmm, but what about the Pony of Shadows, then? Shouldn’t they already know the truth?
That said, I do think the side stories for the Mane 6 could be canon; no reason gremlins or the hippie ponies wouldn’t work.
Why would they need to mention it? Its not like the characters go back over their previous episodes very often. Now and again but only when its important to the episode for the most part. Like Luna thanking Twilight for getting rid of nightmare moon.
