The show has a much, much, MUCH longer development cycle than the comics. And some staff had said they really don’t think about the comics, though they obviously do since they approve (and have rejected) comic scripts.

We need more comics about flying obsessive Cherry Berry. Preferable as a filly with a big dream.

I agree. Even if they aren’t always perfectly 1:1 with each other there’s really no reason to reject what it adds to the universe an characters. Especially things that may never really get pointed out in the show.

The scripts of the comics are looked over by the writers of the show. The comic writers say that they’re playing in a sandbox, but they tackled something that the show probably wouldn’t ever explain. Unless the show contradicts it, I take EU material as in continuity.
