I wouldn’t call it Easter egg to begin with. It’s just an in-universe story. Doing it correctly should be the right thing to do. – Failing at doing it will just be looked down on.
 
I appreciate if people take extra care to make it actuate. I don’t appreciate if people take extra care to not make it actuate intentionally.

I’m curious … wouldn’t it had been easier to just copy the same animation than having to recreate it?  
Of course you can do the “camera” animations differently, but everyone moves and talks exactly the same in both versions.

Why didn’t they just recycle the animation? Re-doing the scene makes no sense especially if you can’t even remember in which order you put the characters! :P

In timeline where Pinkie Pie boarded the train first, Twilight Sparkle switched everyponies’ cutie marks, fixed the problem and became a princess.  
In timeline where Twilight boarded the train first, some Serbian guy shot some Austrian prince while trying to buy a sandwhich, leading to The Great World War.

Pinkie and Twilight switching placew doesn’t effect Spike’s progress, therefore it’s not a continuity error.
 
Besides, who would have noticed? Only obsessed fans with an eye for detail could spot it. I’m surprised anyone would.
