Oh well, Twilight knows magic and Pinkie is Pinkie, so I guess this makes sense.
Pinkie is subject to the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle on a macroscopic level. She’s definitely within one ponylength of Applejack (who, being made of neutronium, is a convenient semi-fixed point in spacetime,) but we know too much about her momentum to get more of a fix on her position.
This means that the series is actually split into two different timelines. Twilight becomes a princess in one of them, and the other becomes Fallout: Equestria. Or, worse, Pinkie becomes a princess.

Actually, I think they did, but they just changed the position of Twi so that she and Dash could have that “it almost feels as good as getting it yourself. Almost.” talk.
