I think the thing to remember is to trust half of what you see and none of what you hear. The government and media can and does downplay this thing when it’s convenient to them just as much as they overstate it when it suits their agenda. They lied to us and told us not to wear masks back in March. I’m not saying that nothing that they say is true. I’m very pro-science and anti-paranoia/hysteria. I’m just saying that it’s obvious that they selectively choose what to present to the public based on their agenda and their profit motives, and that it’s best not to be partisan or blindly follow any one person or news outlet’s advice. That goes for the people I like, too. I don’t blindly do everything Canadian Prepper says. There’s a lot I actually disagree with him on, but you can disagree with certain things a person says and still have respect for their general message or what it is they’re trying to do.
We should be working together to express our views, why we believe them, and be open to trying to understand why other people believe what they believe instead of labeling them all as mad orange man supporters.

Personally, I wear a full face respirator and a buddy of mine has a half face. They’re fun and actually will certainly protect you if used properly.

FTFY
Exactly…
Although we don’t really understand the immunity well yet. I’m in like 99% agreement with the overall principle of what you just said, with the addendum of noting that it’s possible that this could be like the common cold coronaviruses where immunity only lasts 3 months or so.
And yeah I wash all of our groceries and/or quarantine the canned and dry goods for a week before touching them.
This is my PPE:
A soviet GP-5 w/modern filter replacements, fishing waders, gloves, and a rainsuit. I take a decontamination shower when I get home. Setup cost was only about $150. Just the GP-5 gas mask and a filter was about $55. YMMV, and watch for availability. Check out weaponsandstuff93 on YouTube for help if you or someone you love is considering taking the “no frickin’ way” approach.
If I’m not going to be around people much I don’t bother with the improvised CBRN suit. This was me on the news last night standing outside encouraging people to wear at least something when in public, to slow the spread down.
Cheers, and stay safe out there. ^_^ /)

Stay safe. If you are not doing it already, wear both a mask and a face shield, and thoroughly wash all the groceries with soap, alcohol or another disinfectant. If you are careful you can significantly increase your chances of avoiding the virus.
On another note, it’s impossible for everyone to get the virus, that’s not how it works. Viruses require hosts to latch onto in order to survive. These type of diseases burn themselves out upon reaching around a 60% infection rate, which is when they exhaust most avenues of contagion. At that rate most of the people will have immunity, so they will be unable to spread it.
Still, it would be nicer if nobody else caught it. It can leave permanent damage to your respiratory and cardiovascular system, as well as the kidneys.
I’m not getting it until they come out with a vaccine and neither is my grandma. No fucking way.
Yeah but at the same time, you can only keep humanity from physically interacting with one another for so long before you start losing your sanity and your immune system.
It’s not about the picture it’s about public safety.
Also people who make that party comment are 300% more likely to suck dick for alcohol.
@Brass Melody
We’ll all probaly get it eventually. The idea is that we don’t all want to get it at once.
I though this was going to be a “back in mah day, we ate mud ’n did waaaaatever!” joke post…
The art is good. Some people like to politicize common sense measures. Pay them no heed.
So, whilst a mask won’t protect you from 100% of the virus, it does dramatically decrease your chances of catching it. So we can all agree that a 30% chance of catching the virus is significantly better than a 100% chance.
As of this date, scientists still are not in consensus whether the virus remains in the air, independent of the droplets. So you have every reason to take any and every measure available to stop its spread.
Also, the virus is now confirmed to do more than infect your lungs, it can also cause thrombosis and harm your cardiovascular system, alongside your kidneys. About 1 out of every 4 recovered patients have reported a 20-25% permanent decrease in lung capacity. So you are better off not catching it.
Yes and since someone like me can carry it around without symptoms I’ll be wearing mask and social distancing.
Anyone should have reason to suspect having it, everyone in public should be wearing something to even partially divert the air flow from their mouth.
The evidence says the Covid-19 can’t fly in the air for now.
The strain haven’t the enough mutations for that. So the mask is useless now, unless you’re infected.
It’s not useless if the most powerful organizations in the world are encouraging and supplying mask.
People think they’re so smart to defy the hands that feed them, they think they’re smarter than the organizations that keep them alive.
It can still potentially block something, even if just by breaking air flow. Airborn viruses can be thinly dispersed and you may avoid contamination because a few individual virus dried up and died in your mask.
The CDC encourages people cover their mouth and nose, but the social distancing is mandatory.
See a doctor. I’m sure Rarity can pay a doctor instead of an useless mask.
Exactly.
