The US economy is in a decline overall. We had more retail stores close this year than we have in the last four, the stock market is warning of a 2nd recession, and alot of farmers in the midwest are saying they are going to lose their farms come next harvest, because of the trade war closing their export markets.  
That’s why MLP having falling sales is not a big indicator of the future of the franchise. G4 is not unpopular. Nothing Hasbro owns made money except for I think Transformers and Monopoly or something. MLP actually did pretty well, all things considered, apparently.

It’s the difference between “a furry is someone who enjoys anthropomorphic art” and “a furry is someone who is part of the furry community”. All bronies count as furry under the first definition. However, the second definition keeps them separate unless the individual in question is an active member of both communities.

Not particularly. Sales are just sales. no matter who is buying. Do they need to pivot marketing to accommodate new markets? Yeah. Are they going to put the majority of their focus on small markets? No. But they are still taking steps to embrace overseas markets, and have for several years.

It’s a classification, if they meet the requirements I’ll put them into that group. Of course people can self-identify otherwise, many people into pony stuff would not call themselves “bronies” just due to the connotation of that word and whatnot but they still are part of the fandom and whatnot regardless of what they want.

Pony mostly overlaps with furry and for all intents and purposes is classified as a sub-community within it, so indeed it is true. A better way to phrase it probably for fewer to be pissy is that not all pony fans are furries due to how many probably only care about the show rather than the content produced surrounding it, really just depends on how they participate in the community.
 
If you like the art/music/whatever produced around MLP (or create it yourself) then yeah you’re a furry since that’s identical to what they are doing with their parallel interest in other anthropomorphised animals (in fact there’s no clear way to distinguish the two groups, hence them being one in the same). Plenty of furry stuff is fan art too or content derived from existing popular media so it’s not like MLP is special in that regard either. The only main difference is the origin and isolation in different locations on the internet which is why it’s more a sub-community with its own internal structure but it’s still part of a larger whole in the end (e.g. most people will be using Derpi for pony stuff instead of FA, but plenty of pony stuff is still uploaded to FA/e621/whatever else all the same).

Sales are most important to them in the USA than overseas

Actually Hasbro said they both count as the same franchise there no two separate websites for mlp and EG only one. Next decade is going to be a new EG cuz Hasbro has to cater to the next generation

Actually, EQG and MLP are separate. Not completely, obviously, but no. MLP and EQG are not the same franchise. One is spun off from the other, and has a seperate team of writers and the like. So, a NDA will legally prevent a creative team from speaking about either current or upcoming projects. So, if we asked Boulder what the 2021 movie is about, they cannot legally answer. However, an NDA does not cover projects that are not planned or current, and does not cover projects the team in question is not knowledgeable about.  
So, if Boulder is not working on EQG and no further work on the franchise is planned, they are legally free to discuss it to their heart’s content.  
Rather, what happened is that Boulder informed us that they were not free to discuss it, and hinted that they will be working on it, and Hasbro made them remove the comment. Yeah. They got themselves an NDA that applies to EQG. The big question is what is being planned. A new series? A new season of Better Together? Maybe a reboot?  
Watcha got there, Boulder? A smoothie?  
P.S, out of curiosity, who said it was not their top priority and when???

The leaks I read actually have her as less of “wrong side of the tracks” and perhaps more business focused. Kinda makes me think this is AJ if she didnt learn her lesson in “Where the Apple Lies.” Or maybe if she had stayed in Manehatten. AJ seems like she would be getting a character arc, taking her from a relatively dishonest person who isnt true to herself, to a place resembling her character in G4.  
Which would be nice, since in FiM, she doesn’t have an arc.  
Which is not scrubbing Texas from her. Texas has a ton of major cities and major corporations.

The leak suggest texan is just what they’re trying to scrub away from her, urban youth ‘from the wrong side of the tracks’ is not explicitly black, but quite stereotypically black, and Megan in particular’s hope for a particular black voice actor makes it seem urban was just code for black.

Eh, Boulder specifically said they could not be more specific, then Hasbro smacks them for discussing it? Yeah. That is an NDA. Especially since EQG and MLP are legally and creatively two different franchises. Like Rescue Bots and Transformers, or Warhammer and Warhammer 40K. Boulder is not legally restricted from speaking about EQG just because they are working on the MLP movie.  
The crappy thing is that right now, our fandom would be better served without a strict NDA.

Okay, admission: I actually quite like that furry character/fursuit on the left. Anyone knows who it is?
