To me it’s pretty simple:  
FiM – Colorful equines that are also cute? Neat.  
EqG – Colorful humans with horse-like faces and disproportionate bodyparts sizes? Hurts my eyes. Nope.

I am leaning towards FiM though, because it’s actually about ponies not human teenagers with bizarre skin conditions.
 
Also, while it’s true season 8 feels like season 1 all over again, it does focus more on side characters.
 
As for character regression, they’ve had to deal with all sorts of problems so their personality changes are reasonable.

Thought RR was okay, lost interest. Haven’t seen anything at all of the new series. Strongly dislike the short format and chaotic release schedule. A wise woman once said “ain’t nobody got time for that.”

Can’t say I’m on board with that.

I still love FiM. But I’ve enjoyed EG from the very beginning, where FiM has stumbled a couple of times.
 
Season 4 had a lot of uninteresting episodes in it. The most memorable episodes were arguably (the introduction of fan favorite characters aside) the opener and the finale. It felt like they didn’t know what to do now that Twilight was a princess.
 
And season 8 has held some of the most contrived and stupid plots I’ve ever seen. Instead of the Mane 6 teaching the students what they know, they’re acting like idiots to give them a practical lesson instead. It feels so hollow, like these characters have hit their apogee and are starting to forget what they’ve opened a school for. It’s not interesting to see them bitch at each other like it’s season 1 again.
 
Equestria Girls has had a few weak stories, but nothing so weak as what season 8 is delivering. That’s my opinion, of course.

Most of the recent stuff has little to nothing to do with the school, and it’s never had “high school drama” of any kind. You’d know that if you actually watched it instead of assuming it’s bad like everyone else does with FiM.

Dance Magic (had to look that up). I’m not watching FF, ever. I hate memory loss premises for stories. Not a judgement on the movie itself, it’s just something I’m mentally unable to stomach.

Forgotten Friendship?…

Never liked the premise of EqG. It convinced me to stay awhile after the second movie, but by the fourth I was having some series misgivings about it. After the first special, I was done. I could stand no more.
 
I won’t dispute FiM having dropped in quality in the last few seasons, and Season 8 has left a lot to be desired for me, but I’d rather watch Seasons 1-7 of it for the rest of eternity than watch anymore of EqG.

Well, how would I know you are being sarcastic, after all, YouTube gives you the option to like comments, and why not derpibooru?

Description makes an absurd amount of sense. This last season has been so uninteresting (mainly because of the whole “school” thing and those 6 unappealing characters they keep shoving down our throats like they do with starlight) to the point that I just straight-up skip most episodes.  
Meanwhile I’m 100% up to date with EG because it’s always fun to watch and I always look forward to new stuff.  
Although it’s not its fault, FIM has overstayed its welcome at this point imo.

Nah, EqG is mostly uninteresting high school drama. Might as well go watch Glee instead.
