The episode fucking proved she can when she made a much bigger bolt to hit the ursa with. Her small little cloud was enough to sting RD and she didn’t even try to make it. Stop ignoring direct proof, and you have the fucking audacity to call me dense.

Okay assuming you’re actually this dense and not trolling I’ll at least humor you with things off the top of my head.  

1.) She can’t teleport, she relies on smoke bombs to vanish running off. 100% fake and the fucking definition of “smoke and mirrors” and she’s used it consistently from season one to current.  
2.) She can’t even inflict damage via magic. When she lost the alicorn amulet boost (so just having her normal base magic) the best she could do was tickle Rainbow Dash when her intention was severely hurting Dash.  
3.) She would’ve died had Glimmer not used her magic to save her when she tried the Manticore cannonball trick.  
4.) Her failings in the “All Bottled up’ episode.
 
So yes her magic skills aren’t even basic despite actually trying to make a career off of it and she uses props and tricks to give the ILLUSION of magic. Without her props no one would see a magician that nearly every unicorn in Equestria can replicate or do better.

Trixie does magic tricks, not fake stage effects. Every spell she used was real and not just something visual. Not a fucking illusion, the OP pic fucking flat out shows you her magic is practical beyond that.

There are several illusions spanning the entire show. They whole point is her illusions/props give ponies something new to see.
 
For god sake her name is literally a play on “Trick”. She can perform magic like all unicorns (Even Pumpkin Cake, who’s a baby) but she’s not that adept and uses illusions to bolster how powerful she appears (or just buys an alicorn amulet to bypass this).

Newer episodes have said her magic is fake and she can’t do anything beyond lame card tricks and illusions now. She even gets belittled for that reason. It’s such bullshit and doesn’t even make sense, Trixie built her career on magic.

Um, we all know she can do REAL magic. This episode, and several recent episodes, established that.
