This Leapingriver character seems particularly bothered by Sparlight shippers of this comic. Not sure if they don’t like Sparlight or are a stickler for author canon.

I heard that they eventually decided that it wasn’t going to be canon whether it was popular or not.
And frankly, I hated that storyline. It was completely out-of-place in this comic.
They said it wouldn’t be canon if it wasn’t popular. It was popular, but they never said much else about it. So it seems to be a truly background story. I can get the exact Tumblr post if you want more evidence.
Really? I legit hadn’t noticed any of that… But didn’t the artist himself (or herself, don’t know which) outright say that that storyline wasn’t canon?
Fixed it.
The military takeover isn’t “shoved in your face” canon. But there are hints of it all over the place in the comic, and events from that. Newspaper clippings, televisions in the background, many things. A lot of stories continue simply hidden in the background and people have to be observant. Casual followers won’t notice.
Just like how Javan may not actually be bad like everyone thinks…. but I won’t go deeper into that.

But yeah, the only story that was ever outright dropped was the whole “military takeover” thing, and that was apparently always meant to be non-canon to the rest of the blog anyway.

Doubt it. Everyone keeps thinking they drop storylines, but they never have to date. As we have seen, for a good story to develop, it takes time, and they take time developing them so we CARE about the characters.
I care about almost every single character in this series and want to know more about them, but despite what I want, they continue to weave tales and develop stories and characters like very few things do anymore. It’s wonderful.

Though the subplot with the fanfic and that other reporter who’s actually a douchebag (i.e. not Greg) seems to have gotten dropped…
That and the feels, like Pinkie’s true identity and Sweetie’s cop friend being injured.
