Indeed. Except that “cross-media continuity” does not necessarily need direct tie-ins (or any reference at all).
Unless the creators say something is supposed to be alternate universe, it is to be considered same universe and continuity by default.
Side note, there was mention of Ponypalooza from a book, and the From the Shadows comic arc will tie in this season, so they’ve set precedents for cross-media continuity.
Even the greatest Starlights and Sunsets discover themselves in the looking glass…
