I mean I know realism also doesn’t allow for a muscle bound bipedal dragon but given we ain’t seen her in canon in 8 years reckon she’s dead

well, that was a mistake. Never, EVER, leave an opponent who has made an attempt on your life alive. They will just come back to try again.

The crew of the Rogue Diamond had been the first to show Spike any kindness in years. Up until he met them, he had been dealing with racial intolerance on all sides. To that end, one thing you two haven’t considered is that whether Fancy Pants actually intended to pay Spike anything at all. Hell, for all any of us know, he could have ordered for Spike’s death upon completion of the mission. Also, Spike going berserk at the moment was not about losing the briefcase. He was overloaded with rage and pain, and was simply done with all the abuse that had been heaped on him over the years. In his current mental state, rationality wasn’t in high supply. All he can think about at the moment is getting back at the one who hurt him. 00284 stomped on him, all the while insulting not only him (for the umpteenth time) but also the crew of the Rogue Diamond, before taking the briefcase and gloating about how they were all going to die.

I just realized… Splash is misspelled as “Splosh”.
 
Also, there is theory that I stumbled upon that suggests 00284 is a clone. Meaning she might not be the same character as Fancypants’ Secretary and is a clone of her instead. (Which would explain why she was sent instead of someone with proper dragon-handling experience.)

I know. I could see if he was being hounded by mercenaries that were after the briefcase, and didn’t exactly have plans of leaving him alive.
 
But hey, Spike isn’t the smartest Dragon around. Me? I would have just done my job and got my money and moved on with a clean conscience.

I don’t really get this timeline at all.
 
Basically, Spike is hired to carry a briefcase around and for some stupid reason he decides to open it.
 
He finds blueprints/plans for some kind of weapon and decides to keep the briefcase away from Fancy Pants.
 
He gets on a boat controlled by the Mane 6 of this universe, which is intercepted by Fancy Pants’ personal security force lead by 00284.
 
00284 announces they just want Spike and the briefcase and assures the crew of the ship no one will be harmed if they cooperate.
 
Spike reveals he opened the briefcase and saw what’s in it and refuses to give it up.
 
00284 gets angry with him, they fight, she attempts to get away with the briefcase leading to this.
 
Basically, I find it stupid he attempts to kill 00284 just because she was escaping with a briefcase. Would’ve been smarter, on Spikes part, to not have looked in the briefcase in the first place… For all he knew, it could’ve been a bomb that would explode upon being opened.

Depends, usually that only applies to plot-important characters… Or fan-favorite characters that fans got upset because said character died. (Example: G1 Optimus Prime, and G1 Starscream.)
