Well he’s also nearly omnipotent so the ponies had to find some way of dealing with him, so they threw Fluttershy at him and it ended up taming him just enough so he could avoid being turned to stone. Chrysalis had nowhere near that much power and never made any friends at all, so she had nobody in her corner when judgment day came.

Some people just enjoy being assholes, and I believe Chrysalis is one of them. Nothing would have changed her. She had way too much pride and took too much pleasure in seeing others suffer.

Chrysalis: SHUT UP!!! (slaps Starlight’s hoof away) Ugh! You ponies are so weird! I’m leaving! Didn’t wanna conquer your goofy little country anyway! YOU’RE ALL A BUNCH OF DORKS! (jumps off the cliff and flies away. Starlight looks down, saddened by her failed attempt to reform Chrysalis. She suddenly returns and grabs a cupcake from Pinkie Pie.) true evil never dies. but i doubt they’ll bring him back. not because he blew up but because there’s no “kid” friendly way to bring him back. to bring back Sombra would need to use late 80’s through the 90’s story telling. something like Anastasia or something like that. maybe lion king 2 logic where some pony’s fallowed Sombra for some reason and tried to bring him back
