There feeding habits were a part of what made them interesting it was presented more as just a biological need as a species that they needed to survive and sustain themselves like any other food source but then they say here it’s just a curse. People fell in love with the changelings becuase they were interesting the way they looked and worked it also didn’t hurt we had a species that wasn’t super bright and colorful like everything else but they didn’t even let the fans keep that. I was fine with the changelings becoming good but not at the cost of their identity as a species, they are completely changed into something gaudy and mundane now they have no real interesting aspects anymore. The changelings just betray her immidiately like all that time meant nothing completely undermining her character as queen of the changelings and was pointless just another forced part of the episode for convenience even though it makes little sense as they have no reason to trust Thorax either but they just do it for no reason besides he glows now.

Thorax was accepted (once it was clear he wasn’t dangerous) despite still looking like a normal changeling.
 
And how can it be called a forced change when they chose to do it?
 
And beyond being more colorful I don’t see how their beetle bodies are more like ponies or how it erases their identity. They are still bug ponies, the whole love vampire thing is the only thing removed and they are the better for it.
 
Changelings were basically a great example of the “being evil sucks” trope in action, as it left them ultimately miserable and they jumped at the chance to live another way once it was proven (by Thorax’s transformation) to be viable.

I’m glad that she didn’t reform yet. I’d like for her to eventually become, if not a friend, at least not an enemy.  
But not yet. She’s too good a villain to force a half-assed heel/face turn.

Starlight spoke to her as if she knew more about the changelings than she did and acted like she knew what was best for them if you tried to say something like that to another race I can guarantee it wouldn’t end well, had she not been clouded with anger and been in a circumstance where she could be shown it could work the way Starlight was saying she may have considered it an option but it was not presented in a way that she had any reason to believe her, why would she believe the person who is trying to stop her? And yes they were magically changed through a completely unexplained copout that made as much sense as shining’s and cadance’s love bomb, not through discussion or believable means but through a forced change of their entire anatomy to be more like the ponies thus erasing the changelings identity. This means the changelings can only be seen as good if they turned into these gaudy abominations and if they remain the way they look normally they are considered corrupted and unacceptable because they aren’t like them.

As thing goes, the only way they can reform chrysalis without causing a big shitstorm (i hope), would be this trope

Yeah but most don’t care that she didn’t reform because she’s a horrible person. They’re just happy she stayed a villain I think undercuts her denial of friendship.

I don’t think any of them could have assumed she had no more power. At least some of them know Chrysalis is pretty decent in a fight all on her own. Not to mention while Starlight simply ran away, Chrysalis swore revenge. Letting her go on the changelings behalf is about the only semi-logical reason I can think of for why not a single one of them tried to go after her.

Both are good reasons to be happy she didn’t reform. I Know they’re my reasons at least.

Leaving her to run probably also meant they assumed she no longer had the power to fight back… Er, right, Starlight did that thing in Season 5, so… XD

Kinda sad that people are happy about her rejecting redemption not because she’s a genuine horrible person but because lol we don’t need another redeemed villain.

Subjugated? What are you talking about? The changelings accepted a new leader of their own kind when Chrysalis proved unwilling to accept a life of not being hungry all the time, and Celestia outright wants to leave their land be. Heck, the ponies not going after Chrysalis could even be seen as a mark of respect toward the Changeling’s sovereignty over their own kingdom and right to choose what to do about Chrysalis.

I honestly hope that, if, she reforms she continues to look the way she does. I know that the changelings all changed appearance, but if she changed her ways but not here appearance that would be cool. Kind of like discord except while he just appears chaotic, mostly, she is more menacing and would have to work past a bit of Trixie’s reaction to thorax quite often.

I liked this scene. It kinda looks like she might have been considering what Starlight was saying, but let her pride and anger get the better of her.
 
It keeps her as a villain, which is awesome, but it also sets up the possibility of future reformation, which I know a lot of people would like to see.

If by redeemed you mean magically converted to their side then sure, thanks to this episode changelings cannot be accepted only subjugated in the eyes of ponies.

Well, I can see her being redeemed in time but they definitely a more slow approach.
