Ooh, and besides them leaving the one three-block radius the entire bloody franchise has taken place in, it will also be Summer Vacation, which has been a season in FiM, but hasn’t been an event in EG yet.

I’d rather she retain her position as a mystic and soothsayer. I suspect the reason they’ve waited so long to introduce characters like her and the villains like Chrysalis, Discord, etc… is so they can actually be kept as magical beings in an Equestria Girls movie/series that involves Human magic. Personally I think they need to distance the series a bit from the high school setting. Not completely, but just a bit.
