When not even the writer can trust on the artist’s skills you know there’s a big problem there.
I kinda disagree, as I see some pages or issues by him that look perfectly fine. Yet, it seems like even when he draws decently, people still hate it. (Honestly, I think Agnes is worse then him, and Brenda is kinda overdoing the off-model humorous expressions a bit.)
I will admit his older stuff, and his covers looked better, but honestly I feel that way about the other IDW artists too. Am I the only one who feels that way? I honestly feel the others have gone down in quality too.
But yeah, I don’t have much else to say on the matter, and we’re kinda necro’ing a dead thread, so maybe we should leave it dead. (I’m tired of the drama too, so I think I’ll unsubscribe to this thread, as well.)

Oh yea, I totally understand that artist’s other than Fosgitt half-ass stuff as well, and they all have their weak points when it comes to certain bits of anatomy.
The difference is that they generally only do it once in a while, or they only have one or two specific things that you can objectively point at that they mess up consistently. The main point of contention with Fosgitt is that he appears to half-ass stuff consistently, and it’s something that’s arguably getting worse and worse as time goes on. That is to say, if the other artists are guilty half-assing entire pages, Fosgitt is guilty of half-assing entire comics.
There are dozens of examples of him having inconsistent and sometimes downright broken anatomy, totally disregarding pre-established stuff like this, completley ignoring the background layer, copy pasting scenes and poses and even on the one infamous occasion copy pasting clip art.
I don’t have any issues with the dude personally, but in my personal opinion he’s just not trying. I look at stuff he did years ago and stuff he did now and I see someone who stopped trying to improve and just stopped caring in general. I see someone who can do better, but isn’t. I see someone who could be working to improve, but hasn’t done so.
Of course, this is all my opinion. Feel free to disregard it. Honestly I probably shouldn’t have said anything here to begin with because I know the staff is just sick of the drama around this dude’s work. So now that I said my piece I’ll promptly shut up now.
Hate to add to keep this going, but… Neither does every other IDW artist actually. I’ve seen Tony Fleecs, Agnes Garbowska, Brenda Hickey, and even fan-favorite Andy Price half-ass entire panels too. (Or even entire pages.) Sometimes to the point, it doesn’t even look like the same artist drew it. During a “Fosgitt-drama” thread, I posted examples of this, (in an attempt to prove this) and ironically I got accused of “hate-mongering” other IDW artists… (This coming from the people that want Fosgitt’s head on a platter, if he so much as draws one minor thing off.) It’s like we’re not allowed to criticise anything else in the comic now, but Fosgitt. (I don’t even see anyone complain about the writing much either in newer issues like they used to. Now every complaint seems localized to one occasional artist.)
I think it’s incredibly unfair, people only call out Fosgitt on that, but never any other IDW artist. Sure many can argue they’re “better,” but that’s just a matter of opinion, and doesn’t change the fact they’re guilty of some of the same things he does.
Overall, I think people are getting too “triggered” over Fosgitt lately. It’s impossible to have any kinda conversation about him without upsetting his haters & fans alike.

I would rather have either of these hypothetical individuals than Fosgitt to be honest. Ok, that might be a little bit unfair to him, as he does have a few good panels here and there. That being said he can draw well, but clearly doesn’t put in the effort to do so for every panel.
No no; they’re canon, but the people who make the show don’t actually read them, so they may be overwritten at any time. Basically, they’re officially canon, but without any of the useful implications that that normally implies.
Regarding the referring in name part: Another character looking completely different in this issue was Greta, and she was referred to:
I think people would be less annoyed if it had just been one nameless character in the background, as you say. But it wasn’t.
Regardless, it’s an easy mistake to ignore, (it’d be much worse if he was refered to by name) and nobody would even know about it, or care if the writer didn’t mention it.
I just think it’s overkill for some (like Murrison) to demonize Fosgitt over it, and some are just looking for reasons to hate him due to his “controversial” art style. (Frankly, I always liked it, and I like seeing at least one artist that has their own style.)
You’d be surprised how fanatical some get, I saw a guy say he wants Fosgitt to “die” before.
Even the writer of this comic was annoyed at the lack of care for the original show design.
Say what you will, but that’s not a good sign.
Or perhaps they didn’t finalize his design for the show, or give him the design for the character.
Keep in mind how long it takes to make these comics, and episodes of the show. Also, as said you could just consider it a different nameless character.
This image seems to be kinda mongering contempt for Fosgitt, and IDW rather then critiquing them to me. It’s kinda a minor problem really.
@Trahzo
As a fan of the Sonic comics, I’d rather they ignore things like that, then cheaply B.S. us. They also tried to explain why Sonic got green eyes. (Hilariously, many years before all the “green eyes in Sonic 4” drama.)
What a wonderful way to treat zebras exclusively.
The hopeful possibility is that they’re saving up for something large and full of stripes. The realistic possibility is that Hasbro are afraid of racism and are taking the WORST POSSIBLE OPTION to deal with it.
Quaggas are probably just a strain of zebra. I’m waiting for rhinos and tapirs, which actually are closely related to horses.
Hey, I try to find something positive in everything, even if it’s a mess like this one.
But sometimes it can be so difficult.
More likely there’s a potential zebra story on the table but not actually in development yet; still, it’s nice to imagine they might actually show more zebras in the show somewhere down the line. And then maybe we can branch out into okapis and quaggas…
They most certainly did for this issue.
If that’s the case, MAYBE is because S06 will have zebras on it and that’s why the comic can’t use any.
I’d rather not…
Wonder if Hasbro is nuking zebra appearances in the comics
Imagine the DOUBLE ZIGGER jokes.
Seige is cooler than Siege. You just are too old to get it.

Still, the artist should at least bother to watch the episodes relevant to what he’s drawing.
