Using a wiki that merely collects facts from the cartoon isn’t something to feel obligated to give credit IMO.
 
The wiki only tells you things that you could find by yourself if you have watched the series.

Just googling names to find out what a character looks like seems like a great idea, until you accidentally get someone’s OC and canonize it in your comic.
 
There was clearly a communication issue here, but there’s no telling who to pin it on yet.
 
If I were editing, I’d have just changed the name of Greta to something else.
 
Is Gruff even named in the comic? If not then he’s totally irrelevant other than background trivia. The captions Duck OP should have used are “Some Elderly Griffon” and “Grandpa Gruff” respectively, but that wouldn’t stir up nearly enough drama.

This, pretty much. I like Fosgitt’s art, and Greta and Grandpa Gruff are minor characters, but still if he doesn’t even suspect that they’re characters from the show then he’s not been paying attention. Personally, I’d rather have someone with passable art that knows the show than someone with good art who doesn’t really care about it. And if someone’s not bothered by this and still enjoys Fosgitt’s work on the comic, that’s fine with me too.
 
And where was Bobby Curnow in all this?
