I just noticed that the animatic videos of the unreleased TYT episodes 24 and 25 have both been taken down due to “copyright claims”

Somehow, I’m starting to think it might’ve been a bad idea for that uploader to wait two weeks between each episode, because we got barely anything so far and I’m now worried we many never get to see the rest because of this…

I’ll admit, it’s been so long since IDW received any sort of flak since the Discord arc 2 years ago and low and behold, this is what’s giving them attention, good or bad. I’m just used to hearing people always dumping on IDW for its “fanfinicky” type of writing. In MLP’s case, it’s merely hard worldbuilding at worst, and something the show’s already done too.

If anything, she’s probably just expecting it to happen at some point. The way it’s worded didn’t help convey it though.

Merely a simple goof, but I know someone who had such strong dislike for him. Saying that he’s never had nor will ever write a great story. And I agree, I can see why. He also added that Jeremy working at IDW himself could have merely researched at his own workplace for any previous stories being already made to avoid inconsistencies but I will give him that, he’s all about how awesome and flashy his stories are, consistency is the least of his problems apparently. Also, he has a tendency to undermine uniqueness of certain things. The rainboom, previously only performable by Rainbow herself, Zipp can do it too now, in the same Rainbow colour rather than Zipp’s own palette. Essentially that’s saying, anyone can do it now. I won’t go as far as to say the rainboom is an easy feat but some people would despise it if so. Same for season 10, apparently the elements of Harmony are no longer unique when anycreature can have it as well. Granted, it’s not absolutely every creature and like with what I just typed, I won’t go as far to say having more well-off kingdoms and societies make the ponies less special and more so that they’re on equal footing. I mean not every race needs to be lesser than the ponies. And ironically I don’t see him complaining about the hippogriffs and griffins. The latter being once a well-off kingdom as well.

But speaking of Jeremy, any other stories you like done by him?

Do you now? I won’t mind seeing kids knowing of who Cosmos is or seeing where Zecora came from or even seeing and learning about the teenage witches from another dimension. If kids know who Him from PPG is, Cosmos is essentially him from that show.

I worry more because I don’t think Hawk’s contingency plan is really gonna work. Rule 1 of corpos, don’t try to fight the corpos. It’s a battle you can’t win.

I haven’t read a lot of the FiM comics, so I can’t anything on what he’s done before. I assume they got him on the comic for the same reason they got Price: he’s a prolific and recognizable name for many of the G4 comics and this was marketed as a crossover.

As far as the G5 comics, I don’t disagree that some of his writing can come across as inconsistent with the shows, but there are times when I feel his different interpretations are used to their potential.

His section of the Anniversary special has one of my favorite characterizations of the Historian Sunny I like so much, and the moment where she tries to flex her knowledge, fails, and ends up flustered while Hitch needles her is still my favorite interaction between the two.

Eeeeeyyyeeeaaahhh…I saw that Doc Anubis’ alternate account has now been wiped clean of the videos showing the unreleased content. Hawk Nightwing still has the animatic for Got to Trot uploaded on his secondary channel at the time of me writing this, but this is definitely something to take seriously. I sent him a message about this, let’s see how he responds.

Give it a shot. There are ways to read them. Nothing is truly out of print even when they are. All you have to do is keep searching. I would love more insight about what you think of them since I assume you joined late. Maybe I have poor taste but nothing wrong when you enjoy awesome moments even for the mere sake of it. Gets the adrenaline and dopamine pumping.

Doc Anubis has yet to respond about how things will continue forward following this copyright block issue. Hawk’s upload of Got to Trot’s animatic is still up at the moment with him not responding to my message yet. We’re just going to have to wait and see for what will be decided.

I’m sure there are dedicated g5 fans who can make their own merch, but yeah, I get your disappointment. 🙁

In fairness, he did get permission alright. From someone who broke NDA. I’m getting Chris got very mad about it. :P

Likely the legal team… Though it’s clear that, if not Chris, someone at Hasbro wants to bury MLP and replace it with Peppa Pig. Just look at the Transformers One logo sequence.

One thing that is known, Hasbro apparently will no longer finance movies of their IPs. MLP is the least affected since movies were never their strong suit, but regarding the Transformers side of things personally, I am very concerned. Not that it should matter but I worry nonetheless.

Looks like they’re investing in transitioning to gaming.

Meh. No longer financing movies is a completely sensible move. Much of the film industry is struggling, and Hasbro’s movies are underperforming even when reviews are good. Whether Hasbro can afford to keep trying or not, it’s a good idea to step back and rethink what they’re doing.

As far as replacing MLP, no chance. Licensed MLP merch is a bright spot in their books right now. Chris Cocks has personally mentioned this to shareholders. Whatever went down with G5, he knows there’s money to be made with the brand.

Good to know. So it seems only G5 is dead, then; though the rest might be on hiatus.

Good on Poland for giving Posey some love, lol.

This whole doom spiral Hasbro seems to be in is totally normal for them. They always dream up some overly grandiose idea, spend a fortune on it, then quickly give up and start doing some desperate cost cutting.

We’re just not used to this cycle anymore because their Hollywood dream lasted unusually long, or at least they took unusually long to recognize that it’s over. It didn’t really work any longer than their dreams usually do. They just clung on long past the time it stopped working because those initial returns were so shockingly good.

Sooner or later they’re going to announce their new big plan, and it’s going to be a doozy.
