Proper education, a good sexual infrastructure (easier access to birth control, condoms, etc), and a loosening of sexual taboos would go a long way to change that.
 
When you restrict, you force it underground. When you get most of your information for porn and peers, you don’t learn. And when you’re forced to feel dirty for what you do, you suppress and repress. All those forces combine to create the situation we’re in now.

true. but in my experience, when they tried to teach sex ed, most of the guys (we’re all guys BTW) in my class acted really immature. more concerned in actual sex than the education part. we’re in high school at that time. and that was in the 90s… i think kids now (in our age back then) are having actual sex now before the sex ed talk appears (not sure how early sex ed is talked in the US schools)

They don’t need to concern themselves with the high details, but if they figure out condom=good no condom=bad, and std’s are really fucking bad, then that’s accomplished more than nothing. This abstinence only crap doesn’t work.
 
You can shout all the fire and brimstone you want at them but it won’t suppress the hormonal urges. Kids are going to have sex, no matter what we, or anyone tries to do about it. We ignore that fact at our own peril. I’d rather them be having safe sex, with at least a rudimentary amount of knowledge rather than some teacher say “Jesus will cry if you fuck” and then send them on their marry way.

The more sexually repressed a society, the more stuff like that occurs. Sexually repressed countries on average have more porn consumption, more paraphillias, more people seeking help for sexual addiction, more sexual infidelity, and just plain weird shit.
 
More sexually loose countries like Denmark, Sweden, Germany, tend to have lower levels of those things. They also tend to have highly comprehensive sexual education programs, and I assure you that’s not merely a coloration.

on paper the philippines looks like a repressed society sexually (so damn proud of being ‘most dominant christian group in asia’) but the massive overcrowding says otherwise.

…Uh…that’s the point I just made lad. The more sexual repression that comes from the norms and mores the more sexually deviant the people tend to be. Your country has higher order sexual repression through society and religious mores, social taboos, and having looked it up, a really shitty sex-ed system. Seriously many schools in your nation actually teach that abstinence only crap.
 
Loosen the mores a bit and that’d change in a generation or two.

Neither are true.  
The solution is simple: back in the day of good sexual values, kids grew up faster so they took responsibility for themselves better.  
So even if they were practicing the hanky panky it was at least handled better

Your fetish for the halcyon days is an impressive one. Sometimes right, sometimes wrong, but never the lesser on conviction.
 
In this case you’re partially right, but partially wrong. You dispelled a false dichotomy and then created a new one to take its place by claiming it’s either we go back to the good ol days of sexual values or face the decline of sexual morality.
 
I believe that proper education is the path to better sexual health, and I cite the Netherlands and your favorite nation of Denmark as two good proofs of that.

but not because one system works for one country, it would work on another. there are lots of factors that people usually don’t weigh in when they do that.

Maybe not the entire system, but we could pull elements from it. Also, kid, this is America, we’d follow our own road off a cliff before actually adopting another nations model, no matter how well it worked. We typically have to fuck up about 10 times and figure it out on our own so we can feel like we did it first.

i remember a time magazine article way back (it was the early 00s) where the author stated that china should embrace capitalism rather than Confucianism (comparing capitalism to owning a sports car while confucianism is pulling a rickshaw). the article wanted the change so america can have a business partner (though america gets more of the deal than china). never probably crossed his mind that china might become a business RIVAL.

Teachman’s data is outmoded and only applies to Babyboomers and GenX, recent replications and newer studies find that the martial instability caused by cohabitation has significantly weakened in regard to Millianials, and is predicted to also decrease for GenZ.
