At this time a fake “leaked” image of alicorn Fluttershy was circulating online, and sense this was shortly after Princess Twilicorn became canon, (and was met with division, and controversy in the brony fanbase) alot of fans started going prematurely nuts online fearing she was going to become one too.
 
Sense M.A. Larson wrote the controversial “Twilight becomes an alicorn” episode, he tends to poke fun at that kinda stuff. (See the Larson You Magnificent Bastard tag, for some hilarious comments by him.)

At some point, a few decades down the line, they stopped talking. They only meet at funerals, and then even that stops, eventually, after Spike’s. Fluttershy does not leave her forest again. Nobody likes to enter that specific forest. The animals are not welcoming. Only occasionally will Fluttershy listen to a plea whispered into the brushes by a nervous pony, call off a locust invasion or send a company of beavers to redirect a flood.  
The peasants call her the goddess of gloom.
