It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Chrysalis has devolved into SadPatheticLumpalis.

A bad way to view it? Maybe we haven’t been formally introduced. I’m Nightweaver, the king of spite on this little website. And I will view plot events and possible plot events in any way that pleases me personally. And if that’s too rough for you, maybe we shouldn’t engage in conversation in the future.
Conquering and displacing, kidnapping and draining, destroying and Imprisoning, leading armies to ransack cities and abduct entire populations?
Are these descriptions closer to the mark for you?
But that’s not even what she does…?
Considering she’s at least a few hundred years old and has been raiding and pillaging her whole life, a few thousand seems a conservative estimate.
How many people are you under the impression she killed?
She doesn’t even deserve that oppurtunity. Why should she get to be free to travel the land she terrorised, indulging in the simple pleasures of life that she stripped from others?
The only atonement that would hold any weight would be self sacrifice and death or turning herself in for her crimes and spending the rest of her life in tartarus.
If she had any iota of remorse for her long gone victims, those are the only two options she would accept.
Edited
She’s always free to shapeshift back to her old form if she wished.
@CompletelyBatty
I’m not critical about that idea.
Well, she could always atone by spending centuries making amends across Equestria.
Ok
Being pathetically adorable does not absolve her of centries of Rampaging through equestria and wrecking lives.
She doesn’t deserve redemption even if she did want it and nothing she does could change it.
So they should do it purely out of spite just to upset people? That’s a really bad way to view it.
Just because some of us are critical of the idea of her being yet another reformed villain doesn’t make our views any less valid.
Edited
Best case scenario.
@Nightweaver20xx
That sounds more like a concession than a take that.
Chryssi should turn fucking GLOWING WHITE with power when she transforms, if for no other reason than to troll the critics.
It’s ridiculously garish and over the top, like I said in my older comments, they basically used colors to represent black bugs = bad and bright friendship color bugs = good.
My issue isn’t mainly the colors though, it’s how it was handled in the S6 finale. They were treated as yet another wrongdoer to be fixed with friendship and Chrysalis as yet another evil villain thwarted at the hooves of the mane 6. Its mostly disappointment because there was so much potential and they went with something so cliche.
The design of Thorax (and the changelings as a whole) was based on the Rainbow stag, which served as a bonus pun with the deer look.
Chrysalis, being female, would likely keep her primary horn, but get two supporting horns on either side.
But there also seems to be a theme: the more love a changeling has consumed while in this intermediary form, the more vibrant they become when they change. This would mean Chrysalis might becomes the most incredibly vibrant changeling we could possibly imagine.
As for Tirek and Cozy Glow, I like to think the two of them becoming good friends as a perpetual thing that doesn’t directly involve Chrysalis.
I mean, the changelings had a lot of storytelling potential, but up until “The Times They Are A Changeling”, they literally were just mindless evil drones. Nothing else had been established about them. The Sword of Damocles hanging over them was that their entire motivation as a species disappears the minute they decide to just ask nicely for love.
I personally saw their situation as a metaphor for tyranny. The leader is only motivated by power, the subjects are starving and uneducated, and the land is ravaged and barren. I also thought that Chrysalis was more interesting when she was acting alone, instead of being backed up by an entire army. The fact that nothing else was established for the changelings becomes a plot point. This need to establish a new identity for themselves after the defeat of Chrysalis gives them something to work towards.
As for the new designs, I thought the colour scheme was based on scarab beetles:
I personally like it, but it’s a big departure from a pretty iconic look, so I totally get people not liking it.
That’s my point, it was treated very much as us good them bad so let’s fix the bad with friendship.
Having the changelings be mindless evil drones and Chrysalis a cliche villain who doesnt care about her own children just felt like a very shallow end result to what is basically the best non pony race.
And don’t forget they go from having a functional civilization to needing to be educated about simple things like compromise and a race of infiltrators who pretend to be ponies who apparently don’t know what hearths warming is.
My friend put it as if post transformation they start acting like they were born 5 minutes ago and forgot how to have a functional society.
@Red-Supernova
Don’t be silly, that would imply the buggo queen isn’t completely perfect just the way she is. :D
I wouldn’t call it pessimism.
Edited
Yep. Even Tirek is aware.
Sounds about right.
Ha! Maybe he does!
@Thistlecorn
Given my luck regarding Chrysalis, I share the same pessimism.
@CompletelyBatty
I like Chrysalis’s current design but I wouldn’t mind if she became a rainbow bug.
But now you’ve ignored the epiphany twice, Bugbutt. Three strikes and you’re out as far as I’m concerned.
You’ve seen her at her height, and you’ve seen her fall and crack and how her personality has fractured because of it.
She also was the one who was the most honestly fractured when an act of honest kindness was done for her.
Granted, a lot of that could be attributed to her voice actress’ talent as Kathleen Barr has been doing work easily as early as Beast Wars Transformers (Airrazor, Botanica), and Dragon Tales (Wheezie), among dozens of others over the past 25 years.
@CompletelyBatty
I feel you forget that Pharynx was still a black and red bug when he changed and he still was somewhat nasty.
Also, by changing, they are no longer starving.
