Well, Happy Endings also exist and can happen in our reality, but they still called a form of escapism.  
Also, it wasn’t a generic ‘bad thing’. It was Dragon Lord getting betrayed, which in dragon culture, can’t easily happen. Otherwise Torch would give Bloodstone Scepter to big old Dragon, not to young dragon.

I can’t help but feel it could happen pretty easily, friendship or no friendship.
 
It’s not like bad things can’t happen to people just because friendship exists.

Stories are often a form of escapism. It would make sense that in the Friendship is Magic world, those kind of stories are less likely to happen than ‘persons connected with friendship defeated infighting persons who don’t know what friendship is’. Dragons wish it would happen, it won’t.

But wouldn’t they still tell the tale of the kind dragon lord Gaius that way. Also. that’s kind of like saying that Daring Do was evil and Doctor Caballeron good.  
You can only know the events that have already past by someone telling you and that someone could be lying or telling the truth.  
But, I have to ask what good would it do Scales if she was seen a weak traitor who only got the title by petty trickery instead of strenght which dragons value?  
She is the dragon lord so she would have tried to conceal the fact also because dragons could get ideas from her methods. That makes it more likely that the story is true.

Y’know, what if the story is reversed? Like, what if Scales was the kind one and Gaius was the evil one? I’d imagine after scale’s reign that it would look embarassing to tell the story of the kind dragon that became lord, so they changed it around to make her mean.

I haven’t seen this episode, but should this really be tagged with “pure unfiltered evil”? It’s for things that are “evil”, but in a cute and funny way.
