@GeoPony
I’m actually pretty content with finding a vessel that is scheduled to fly past the ozone layer soon, like a rocket that will be bringing a satellite into orbit, and strap at least one flat earther along for the ride…
Sure, the ancients in China were clinging to some fantastical theories about how space works (including the evil sun-eating dragon), but at least the Chinese were actually the first to identify sunspots on the sun (while the European astronomers mistaken them for extra planets). In fact, the Cantonese word for “eclipse” (shih) literally translates as “to eat”
As for the other question: Yep, it exists in Equestria; in fact, this is how the solar eclipse tradition got its roots in!
Edited
… Didn’t anybody think that if the dragon is trying to eat the sun that maybe fire arrows wouldn’t bother it much? I mean, sure they didn’t have as much astronomical knowledge but you’d think that they had identified the sun as a source of light and heat.
Also, this makes me wonder if eclipses are actually a thing in Equestria.
I’m sure adding fire could only improve this idea.
Maybe we can shoot arrows at the flat earthers
And today people believe there’s a massive conspiracy between NASA and the world governments to trick people into believing the world is round…
Times have not changed.
