I was looking for that, how’d I miss it?
Actually, you did, two years ago
We Germans are not a var-like people
In light of Sweet&Smokey… yes. Very much so.
Yeah, I guess it would fit with Ember to act like that.
True enough.
She was around other dragons here though. It’s easy to act the idiot when you’ve got your friends egging you on.
She was trying hard in Triple Threat, though. She very much tried to connect with others and improve herself and when things got too close to her emotions, she withdrew. In the comic, she was only ever pissed off and looking for a fight.
@Itsthinking
Could be she was just angry and pouty. Or, my two cents, Ember desperately wants help but doesn’t want to admit the problem is personal, because that would make her look weak and vulnerable to her Ponyville friends. Even the letter she sent them spoke of other dragons. “I have this friend, and she has a problem…”
Someone get this hothead out of here!
Also, while I get the insult that Thorax got from Spikes supposition that he wouldn’t get along with Ember, Ember openly said that Spike wasn’t allowed to say the obvious, something she knew. I didn’t get that, why wouldn’t you want your friends to realize/say what you yourself admit?
Yeah, Spike actually points out how massively hypocritical she’s being.
You know, a lot of people were saying how out of character she was in this. From how she acted in Triple Threat, I’d say they were pretty much on point. Hotheaded, doesn’t want to talk about it, bad at friendship.
To be fair she was casually racist later on in this comic with her comments to Spike.
Either that, or complainers are just too lazy.
Please post as yourself or as BP in a thread. Don’t do both in the same thread.
Indeed, I like the fact that he’s simultaneously the biggest and most level-headed peaceful adult we’ve seen.
…or maybe he’s like that precisely because he knows his position and who he is leading (the kids) doesn’t really matter :/
Eh. At the end of the day maybe it was simply a bad move from the writers to start using the dragons as another race that gets involved and has conflicts with the others (like the yaks and the griffins). It just looks like they wrote themselves into a corner because now they’re forced to use only the children to make any confrontation look believable.
Edited
Its probably different tribes.
What is funny about that is Torch is big enough to push around any other adult dragon we’ve seen so far, yet he also looks to be one of the most well-adjusted and peaceful.
One thing’s for certain, the title of Dragon Lord seems more and more like official dragon babysitter now. Its like they designate the one who’s going to lead and guide the children, making them go around pretending they speak on behalf of their kind, because well, these kids really are on the same size/strength level as the adults of most other intelligent races, while their own adults simply don’t care about any of this because they can do whatever they want.
This lasts until they grow large enough to realize they don’t need to keep grouping up to do what they want, and leave.
The position of DL really seems pretty unimpressive when you only rule your kind’s children.
Edited
I theorise that their growth is determined by their social position, and that subordinate dragons stay small and only dominant dragons grow to full adult size.
@Starswirl
It’s probably a bunch of tribes.
They’re probably not under her control. Only young dragons responded to the summons, no older ones showed. Older dragons don’t seem to give a damn about much of anything other than eating and sleeping.
How the hell are we supposed to take “conflict” between these two races seriously when its basically the adults of one side arguing with a bunch of children/toddlers from the other, who aren’t even like 1/100th the size of their average adult?
I mean, what conflict? what bond? If there’s sh*t going, and if she really governs “all dragons”, then just send a single one of your average adult citizens to exterminate their entire population overnight. Its that easy.
Agreed. The way she’s acting, I’m hoping it’s outside control.
@Evowizard25
Also agreed. As for Torch, he’s not Dragon Lord anymore. Could be his absence shows he’s not in favour of what’s going on.
Alot here didn’t like Cook’s writing. (Some of her stories weren’t bad though.) Though, the Andy Price hate has pretty much disappeared, but was never as widespread, as some other artists.
@Starswirl
Yeah, I kinda hope they don’t go that route. It’s kinda bad enough Ember is looking like a petty war-mongerer. (It also kinda undoes her character development, and such from her premiere episode.)
