What’s ironic is that Spike is possibly some mutant dragon. He was hatched through pony magic, then grown right after he hatched, then shrunk again. And he doesn’t have wings, though the artist seems to have forgotten those in the second panel on Ember as well.

“Oh, don’t worry, Spike. I know you are a credit to your species.”
