Mr. Enter: Pointing out your problems does not make them go away.
That’s assuming that Discord will LET you ‘not play’.
That’s on top of taking the message of “don’t change just for the sake of others” and turning it into an excuse to be a complete jerk.
“The only winning move is ‘not to play’.”
Get him stoned.
So, ponies ask Discord to behave, horrible things happen to them courtesy of Discord.
Ponies don’t ask Discord to behave, horrible things happen to them courtesy of Discord.
Is there a way for the ponies to win this one?
He’s kinda the “Sideshow Bob” of the show, so I don’t think they wanna overdo him.
Good point about the “character becomes evil” theme.
Welp, at least the ponies learned their lesson: Never ask Discord to behave, or you will be horribly punished.
Speaking of which I did laugh at how the comic pointed out how often the series (mostly the comics) did the “this character but evil” trope.
Mostly because it was, like this specific panel the “complaining about how a story isn’t good and knowing what made that story not good but writing one like it anyway” style.
Well, I’ll just pop back briefly, and say I’m sorry I was being a li’l passive-aggressive.
@kleptomage
I don’t think complaining, or critiquing is a crime here, otherwise we’d all be banned, including me for voicing why I didn’t like certain episodes & such too. I didn’t like “Pony Point of View,” but I will admit I liked crazy sailor Applejack.

My understanding is clear though you may not understand I’m speaking more generally than discussion of the comics. You mods rewrote rule 4 to make complaining a crime and you expect me to believe you don’t prevent people from expressing their opinions. You expect me to believe that Derpibooru is not hostile to negativity when the default response is to scream at complainers about filters or delete their comments outright.
You want an environment where everyone is free to express themselves in a civil manner without being put down? So do I. Unlike me you have the power to create it.
Apparently you have trouble understanding the difference between “insults” and “opinions about things”.
An opinion is “I like thing” or “I don’t like thing”.
Insulting language is “You don’t like thing, you must be a hater and an idiot who hates all similar things”.
I don’t like some of the comics. I’ve been called everything from a hater to drone to an obsessive neckbeard for this position.
I do like some of the comics. I’ve been called everything from a shill to a hasdrone to (again) a neckbeard for this position.
In both cases, what has happened is that someone has seen me express an opinion and has responded with an insult.
The difference is right there: opinion - insult.
We don’t prevent people having negative opinions about things. We may ask them to express those opinions on a forum thread rather than on the comments of an image, but we don’t prevent them.
We do prevent people from hurling insults at one another.
Don’t even think of trying to conflate the two.

Ask a rude question, get a rude question.
@Archonix
That’s good to hear. Perhaps I will quote your post the next time I see a mod try to silence someone for expressing a negative opinion. Some of you forget that freedom of expression is a two way street.
Not everything that people criticize has always something to do with Starlight. You make it sound like you are more obsessed about her yourself than the actual “haters” are.
Official moderator statement:
The mere fact that someone holds an opinion different to yours on any part of this franchise is not in any way an excuse to dismiss them with insults like “hater” or “hasdrone” or whatever else you kids might want to come up with.
The fact is, people like different things. People have valid criticisms of the things that they like. People have objective reasons for liking or disliking a thing.
This constant insistence on framing everything as 100% hate if it isn’t 100% adoration is driving me absolutely batty - all it does is foment conflict.
People are allowed to not like something.
If the insulting language continues, I’m going to be handing out bans.
>people with dissenting opinions are wrong because I say so!
Just because someone says a thing you don’t like doesn’t mean they’re idiots. You’re honestly worse for thinking the comic is some sort of sacred cow that can do no wrong.
Ok, that’s where I leave the discussion…
Also, it’s rather ironic to call me such. Every time I don’t jump on some hate bandwagon, I’m some “Hasdrone/apologist/whatever.” Then if I give negative critique about something, suddenly I’m accused of being the opposite extreme. Which am I? Seriously, it’s really making me dislike discussing things with bronies here.
@CMC Scootaloo
They’re a li’l biased, true, though that doesn’t mean that people who dislike the comics are all in the wrong, or have no valid opinions, or critiques. It just means they have a different opinion then you. (Even I’ll admit the comics havehad their problems at times) It’s when people obsess on their own biases, and try to silence others who feel differently it becomes a problem. Unfortunately, hating the comics, and pretty much everything about them are popular opinion here, so I kinda feel sorry for those that do genuinely enjoy them here.
Believe it, or not, I neither love, or hate them. (Despite the accusations I get of being biased one way or the other.) They’re kinda hit or miss for me, but I don’t read ‘em much anymore.
Still, I’m out’ta here.
Important to understand here is that both kleptomage and Itsthinking (as well as any other comic haters that might or might not comment here in the future) know they are in the wrong when saying the arc sucks.
They just hate Starlight Glimmer, so they rant and bitch about the arc as much as possible, with all sorts of farfetched arguments, in hope to have an impact that way and get Starlight at least out of the comics.
They will never admit to being in the wrong, because they don’t care about being wrong or right. They have their own agenda and will carry that out no matter what.
Which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t criticize them for that, but it means you shouldn’t hope for a betterment of them, because they actively fight this and will never allow this to happen.
@aza191
Keep dreaming. The haters of the official comics complain about them for numerous “reasons” for almost four years straight now and yet, they are still the best-selling comic series of IDW.
The power the comic haters imagine having over the official comics and their sales success is virtually zero. They didn’t get them down with their petty complaints over the last 4+ years, they won’t get them down in the next four years.
But whatever lets you sleep better.

Are you always an apologist?
I don’t think that’s what they were doing.
Do you take everything this literally?
Perhaps they should not be so eager to highlight their shortcomings.
