I suggested the idea of a name based off Grimlock as his design reminded me of some of the older toy designs.  
Daneasaur said it was a bad idea because it’s the name of a character of another franchise, but also thinks to use Chomper, the name of a character from the LBT franchise(that’s how it got brought up).  
How is using the name of a LBT character okay “because there was only one LBT movie” but a name BASED on a TF character is not okay because the name is used in another franchise?

Ok, I’m just gonna add Chomper and Thod to all the images of this guy. We’ll pick one of those later if we need to shorten it, but as it is, even Prominence/Belcher’s name hasn’t been chosen.

I vote for Chomper, it fits both the naming scheme and the character.

This is where a name BASED off Grimlock makes it work.  
But Daneasaur’s logic for not using one based off Grimlock is the very reason we should not use Chomper.

The problem I see with using Grimlock is that people will automatically assume that you’re talking about the Transformers character, which will lead to a lot of confusion. It’s a rather specific name, whereas Chomper sounds more generic.
 
There’s also the fact that the tag “Grimlock” has over 50 images, since he’s a Transformers character and another Hasbro property, but “Chomper” only has eight images, with two of them being Land Before Time.
 
I personally stick by using “Chomper” as this dragon’s name. I’m just bringing up some points for the debate.

I did, I said Snagglelock and then when DragonMorpheus gave one based on my idea you acknowledge it, so why not mine?
 
Again, sorry but if you are going to dismiss my idea for a way to name him because of name of someone from another franchise then you can’t use Chomper as it is in that same boat, it’s actually on the nose with the problem as my idea is of an altered name.

Non dude, you can;t use Chomper as you said “we wouldn’t want to cause crossover issues. Mainly, in naming a character from this franchise someone from another franchise” to argue my idea of one based off Grimlock.  
If that’s a problem to be based off another name then by that logic you can;t use the very same name as a character from another franchise.
 
Sorry, I just don;t like it when someone using a reason to shoot down an idea, and then uses a similar idea and that reason does not apply for the second case.

There is that, however as stated, it’s not like the lbt sequels are all that popular, whereas Transformers is quite popular.
 
Chomper is also “generic” enough to not be offensive in that regard. “He’s got a big set of Chompers.” can be a fairly simple remark, hence why the PvZ plant is named it.
 
I mean ,Ember is probably one of the more dead common names one could think up for a dragon, but we like her anyway.
 
I think we’re mostly in agreement that Chomper is the favored name for this happy fellow?
