Stuka gunner fits more for my opinion. Yes i know the “tail gunner” pun works for the first view more, but Spike’s position is more Ju 87 ore other dive/torpedobomber like

A tail-gunner faces the rear of an airplane with a mounted turret. Aside form the fact that they can relay information about rear approaching foes, they can also combat them. Spike, riding backwards on Ember, allowed them this advantage which without it, took out most of the other dragons.
