I think it was the card game that gave her the last name of Melody.
Vinyl Scratch Tapes is a few months older than Allegrezza. Though Allegrezza is the cause of her fanon last name, I think.

Philharmonica was the most common secondary name for Octavia for those that wanted to give her one (no clue why people felt the need to do it). However, back in late 2013 I think, the Octavia doll was released and it called her Octavia Melody. Personally, I just stick to Octavia by itself.

ReallY? I though Allegrezza was the first ever shipfic of those two. It’s partially why everyone in this fandom calls her “Octavia Philharmonica”.
Really late response, but yes. The Vinyl Scratch Tapes was the first ever thing to ship these two together. It was a fanfic posted on Equestria Daily in July of 2011, only like a month and a half after Octavia debuted in the series. That’s the story that first planted the seed of this ship.
That is the best line I’ve read in a fan work in ages.
