Carrots are actually just about nutritionally worthless to rabbits. In reality, a rabbit’s diet (at least should) consists of leafy greens almost exclusively.
The idea of rabbits liking carrots was created and popularized by Bugs Bunny, but that effect was never intended. It was just supposed to be a reference to one scene from the film called It Happened One Night, in which the male lead munches on stolen raw carrots. The reference was obvious to audiences in the forties, fifties and possibly into the early sixties. But nowadays, the carrot has become as much of an iconic part of Bugs’ character as the accompanying phrase of “Eh, what’s up, doc?”.
A bunny, am I? That makes YOU a CARROT.
“They say TV makes you violent. Well, I say not having my TV, is making me pretty BUCKING VIOLENT!!!”
Okay, I chuckled there.
