Yeah, they probably decided that Pinkie and Minty were too similar in terms of personalities (which is why they’re such close friends early on), so they only kept one of them when choosing the Core 7. Which is a shame, but there you go.
My guess is that she almost made it, but was dropped in favor of Pinkie and/or because there wasn’t enough room in the Core Seven.
And of course, the skating comp in MLP Tales too. :)
