Fair enough, but even then that’s still threatening, intimidation, and extortion. Again, I’m not saying the guy’s a supervillain or anything, just that he’s not above doing shady things to get what he wants.

I always figured he was bluffing. I mean his whole thing is teaching ponies to get what they want by intimidating them and he clearly subscribes to his own teachings. When Fluttershy made it clear she would not be intimidated into paying, he didn’t go through with the beating and tried bargaining.

As far as the episode is concerned he might as well be because anyone who treats her any wrong is irredeemable or at least according to Fluttershy fans

Oh yeah, that was brutal. I was actually scared for her when he said it. I mean, actually wanting to be paid for a service he offered? Who does that!? And remember how she told him she wasn’t satisfied and he was pretty much like, “Oh ok”? I had a hard time sleeping for months.

I’d equate Iron Will’s supposed role to Wonder Man in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but I’d have to read it before I can come to that conclusion. :3

I think Iron Will is being included because she’s rounding up pretty much every “morally dubious” character in the cast thus far. Iron Will may not have been an actual villain in the show, but at the same time he did threaten Fluttershy with a pretty alarming amount of physical violence when she said she wouldn’t pay him. So like, he’s not a bad guy per se, but he is capable of doing bad things for selfish reasons. Which seems to be what the preview is leading up to.

That is true, and while Flim/Flam and Lightning Dust have already been villainous in the past, Iron Will has not.
 
The thing is though, Radiant Hope offered him advice to help with his failing business, not revenge. Wanting a successful business isn’t malicious or “being a dick”. At least not any more than his behavior in his episode.

Manipulated into serving a villain by being offered revenge or just help with being a dick kinda makes you a villain, conned into it or not. You don’t need to be a mass murderer to be a villain.

I think the evidence here is crystal clear at this point: Jeremy Whitley does his homework and does it right.

I kind of assume that they’ll stop playing into Radiant Hope’s plan when they realise helping her really won’t get them what they want, or at costs they don’t want to take.

Um, no? It’s pretty clear that they will be manipulated into serving Radiant Hope’s purposes (whatever those may be) but they are are not going to be written like they are cruelly malicious characters who are devoted to wickedness or crime (well, ok Flim & Flam are technically con men, but that’s already a part of their character).

Define “villain”. He was an antagonist of sorts in that episode, and he was a bit of a jerk; even though that’s obviously not in the same league as Sombra or even Flim & Flam, that would be enough to get him labeled “villain” under some relaxed interpretations of that term.

This right here is exactly what I’m talking about. People see a single page, devoid of all context, immediately start drawing their own wild conclusions based on zero evidence, and then blame the writers for the imaginary story that they invented in their own head.
 
What we actually have is one page of someone offering Iron Will a chance to get his career back on track. How you managed to extrapolate “pussify the demigod” or “disconnect from understanding how tartarus works” is baffling to say the least.

that is not entirely true. you can get a strong indication of what you are gonna get in the very first few pages of a story or minutes of a movie.
 
its been true for the lsat few mlp comics. albeit in this case the issue is the fear that we are going to have to accept these acharacters as villains, that they will pussify the demigod that protected equestria again, and that there is clearly a disconnect from understanding how tartarus works.

nah he’s right about people too. the issue is that humans are far more prone to going way to far. there is not a man in this world who views himself evil. and often enough cruelty is not born out of true intent, but ignorance.
