You know, it’d have been VERY nice if the story actually ADDRESSED THIS. But nope, we don’t see this AT ALL in regards to Iron Will.
Background Pony #087F
Unless you’re Chrysalis or that Nightmare Force thingy… They’re pretty much evil and pride themselves in it in the comics.

You know, this comment would have a lot more weight if it wasn’t refering to Iron Will suddenly being a full on bad guy, stealing national treasures, physically assaulting ponies, and being a traitor to Equestria resulting in the resurrection of King Sombra, all of which Iron Will was AWARE OF.

I’m trying to say that acting like a d*ck does not make you worth being placed on the top of the “government’s most wanted” list. Had he engaged physical contact with her in any way, it would be an entirely different story. Also, it doesn’t matter that it wasn’t due in the end. He was under the impression that his work had been effective and that he deserved what he requested for it. When told otherwise, he immediately backed down. That doesn’t sound like an evil guy to me. That hardly even makes him a bully to me, at least not a good one.

No wonder you’re posting as a BP.

I post as a BP whenever I get into heated discussion because a lot of people on the Internet like to hold grudges over them like it’s a big deal, and I really would rather separate that nonsense from my public profile where I can just interact with people and not have to worry about someone saying, “Hey, you’re that meanie that said something I didn’t like! Get ‘im, boys!” Is it kind of cowardly? Perhaps, but I don’t turn around and criticize someone for using the same function, either.

What’s your excuse?

Seriously. You’re defending the act of threatening severe bodily harm to someone less than half the aggressor’s size for the purpose of collecting payment that, in the end, wasn’t even due.

No wonder you’re posting as a BP. I wouldn’t want to be associated with such a stance, either. But I suppose I shouldn’t be so quick to judge; maybe where you live, no one ever follows through on a threat, so there’s no reason to be afraid of them.

Are you trying to tell me you’ve never issued an empty threat in your life?

“Talk **** about my mother/girlfriend/etc. again and I’ll make you regret it!”

“Don’t make me beat some sense into you!”

Nothing of that ilk?

Fluttershy: As I recall, during your workshop you promised one hundred percent satisfaction guaranteed, or you pay nothing. Well, I’m not satisfied.
She wasn’t claiming that his methods hadn’t been successful, only that she wasn’t satisfied with them, and he guaranteed satisfaction, not success. Holding someone to the letter– and it could be argued, also the intent– of their deal ain’t hardly swindlin’, it’s just paying attention during the negotiation phase of a transaction.

I just don’t believe that “thinks it ain’t stealin’ unless they gank your items” is really a very common attitude at all amongst the fandom in general; there was rather quite the hue and cry when DA fscked all the way up with that idiocy. Pretty much everyone understands a concept as simple as Theft Of Services.

FlutterSTFU wasn’t thiefin’ anything; she made a contract with Iron Will that stipulated her satisfaction with the results, and since she wasn’t satisfied with having been turned into Iron Wilhelmina, she legit didn’t owe him anything. If she’d decided to go Full Jerk and stay that way ‘cuz she liked it, then she would’ve been ripping him off.

This seems about right. I wouldn’t call him a villain, though I can understand using that term if it’s being used in a very broad sense; still, his behavior in that episode was definitely far from ideal, even if he did do the right thing in the end.

@The Smiling Pony
Not according to a large segment of the fandom, which argues that “theft” can only be applied to physical goods. (As I don’t subscribe to that theory, though, I agree that Fluttershy would be a thief if she refused to pay despite being happy with the training. Which still wouldn’t justify threats of physical violence.)
