From how she was when we first saw her, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to infer that she simply fell out of touch with everypony but Spike and Celestia, though not to the same extent Moondancer did. Recognizing them on the street and acknowledging them without paying them any actual attention, rather than basically becoming a full-blown shut-in.

Yeah, but from the short we see of Twi and Moondancer as fillies, they obviously weren’t that close. It’s clear from watching it that Moony showed more interest in Twily than the other way around.
 
Cadance was her friend…as a filly. In kindergarden. We don’t know how long she even stayed her babysitter.
 
Actually, that’s the big problem. We only see Twily interacting with these “friends” you’ve mentioned as a filly. We don’t see her as she ages up, we only first see her when she’s, arguably, an adult. There’s no evidence that she stayed close with any of them, which is pretty obvious in Moondancer’s case.

Ok, maybe I was being irrational. I guess I just don’t like how people make Twilight out to be a monster in this case. Yeah, it was pretty rude to brush her off like that, but I can also understand being introverted and not really wanting to go, even if she could have been more polite about it.

Actually as we’ve seen in the show, ponies are extremely social. So yeah, life is important but it’s kinda rude to them to not even respond to someone when they invite you to a party. There are people that are extremely emotionally unstable, I fell into depression when a friend ditched me.

Everyone is so hard on Twilight. Moondancer is the one who lost control of her life because ONE of her friends missed her party. Are parties really THAT sacred to ponies?
