I can also say that it’s entirely possible that Twilight was fairly oblivious to the state of her friendships and status of her friends. Like, I think Twilight legit had no idea how significant the event was to Moonlight, and thus had no reason to believe any major offense had happened at the time.
 
Now that Twilight is really clued-in. She would know to write an apology letter right away and make amends.

Given how she had to have Spike not only remind her of their existence and repeat their names for her on several occasions, it’s safe to say that she really didn’t care. Nothing wrong with that on Twilight’s behalf, she saw it as a platonic schoolmate relationship, there wasn’t any reason, (in her mind,) to be invested. Moondancer believed that there was something more to it and that Twilight did consider the relationship to be a serious relationship, and therefore was broken up over her not coming to the party. Neither side was explicit in their feelings on being together, and continued to live on with their respective beliefs after separation.

Reading this over, I make it sound like they were lovers and didn’t just go to the same school together…

Y’guys, people have gone back and checked - that party actually happened the day before Twilight actually left. Day she discovered the prophecy - stated two days before Summer Sun. Time spent in Ponyville - stated the day before. She totes could’a made the party and saved the world, no sweat.

Twilight didn’t even know she was gonna be saving the world. It was just gonna go home study and UH OH TIME TO MOVE OUT TO PONYVILLE, didn’t even say “Ayyy sorry I gotta move out, Princess told me so.” “Ah! So that’s why you didn’t come to my part, you were busy!”
