Yeah, though Mario’s spinoffs are usually more well-received.
Still, I don’t mind seeing Sonic in other game genres frankly. In fact, I rather liked “Sonic Spinball” regardless of the hate it gets. (I think people hate it, because they focus to much on trying to “get to the final level/boss” aspect, rather then just play it like a pinball game, and try to get a high score, and have fun.)
Hey, if Mario can find success doing everything from illegally practicing medicine to gokarting to fragging soccer…
Could be interesting if done right… But I imagine many Sonic fans wouldn’t be keen on that. (Some weren’t even keen on there being an RPG Sonic game in the first place.) Seems most of them just want Sonic to just run to the right and for nothing else to be in the game.
I wouldn’t mind the RPG formula being explored again.
Also, “Sonic Chronicles” had some nice subtle things about it. Like it’s the first Sonic game to adapt the Swatbots from the original TV show.
I wonder if having more RPG-ish elements wouldn’t be good for Sonic. I mean, sure, make it action like Adventure or even 2d like the original games but maybe have choices and stuff?
I mean, worked for Mass Effect, right?
That actually was considered an RPG, and Sonic’s first/only one to date.
Though, “Sonic Adventure” being more story-based was inspired by the popularity of RPGs.
I wonder if Sonic’d do well as an RPG or a rhythm game. I remember enjoying Dark Brotherhood on DS (though maybe that’s because Bioware was behind it).
Yeah, I get sick of the hate both Sega & Sonic get in general. At least, Sega has tried to address problems with the games that fans have had, and listened to fan-critiques. (Not to mention allowed the Sonic comic book series to last as long as it has… Nintendo won’t even allow any American comic companies to produce anything based on their games.)
Also, I played the demo of “Sonic Boom” for 3DS, and it’s not bad. Not perfect, (not quite the same as the other portable 2D games) but still enjoyable.
Yeah, I know.
Huh. Maybe I should give it a shot, then.
On another note, I much prefer Sonic Boom’s comedy stylings to Teen Titans Go. Go just makes me angry.
I promise you, the 3DS version does much better.
@Joshua
Really? I was under the impression that while the 3DS version was better than the WiiU version, it was still pretty bad.
That’s true. The 3DS version plays much better than the Wii-U version. Heck, I’d even play the new Sonic Boom 3DS game, Fire and Ice.
Oh-no, The 3DS one isn’t that bad, It’s the WIIU game that gets more hate, rage and shit.
I suspect he means the game. Both of them.
In case you haven’t been updated, Sega’s CEO admitted how much they have betrayed the fans and promise to try and go back to their quality controls, and promise a new console game (Never said that it was a Sonic game.). Not just that, Sonic Boom’s TV show actually has positive reviews.
Proof of those reviews:
